Rubber Mushrooms

Does anyone know where I can get hold of rubber mushrooms? Or maybe tell me what they are really called. I mean the little rubber buffers that go in holes on a top box rack to stop it rattling about?

Mine’s a Nonfango box and rack but I’m sure these have to be faily commonly available if I just knew where they grew.

Any help would be helpful.

Thanks Adzski.

That looks like it might be the kind of thing. Thanks for the link.

I’ll see if there’s any Nonfango ‘plate rubbers’ anywhere.

Cheers

Please do let me know if you find any Nonfango rubbers - I’m missing a few, too!

I’ll let you know. Initial enquiries aren’t proving very successful.

Can I assume you’ve tried nonfango.com? And you’ve tried phoning them?

After that, the correct name is “grommets” If they don’t have a hole in them they are “blind grommets”. If they are domed on one side with no hole they are “blind mushroom gromets”.

None of that is of any use as the person at the other end of the phone will just want the part number and won’t know what a “grommet” is. But sometimes, just sometimes, your lucky.

Hello Oldguy.

Thanks. You’ve re-ignited my efforts. My ‘pretend I’m working’ research only found an Italian site. Subsequent limitation to UK sites proved fruitless. I failed to see the little union jack. Sure enough I exchanged e-epistles with a chap called Matteo and I shall receive 8 of said blind mushrooms from Italy for the grand sum of 15 Euros, including the postman Pat tithe, which I paid by paypal.

Wildwoodflower.

info at nonfango dot com is the place to try. (I got a reply in less than a minute. No kidding.) Matteo wanted to know what sort of base plate I had and that was about it. Sending a picture is fine if you don’t know the model. The paypal address is slightly different but he’ll give you that.

Thanks all.

I’ve bought a couple of bits from Italy and found them more than helpfull and prompt.

Arrows exhausts take the prize. Emailed back within minutes of my message to tell me they had just handed the bits to their truck driver setting out for France and England. The importers mailed them on the next day or day after and I got the bits the day after that.

The cost other than sending the importers an SAE? Nothing. All done “with compliments”. Took me longer than that to get around to fitting the bits.

Thank you kindly. I’ll give them a go. As nobody seems to sell them anymore, I had assumed that Nonfango had gone bust and the website was an unattended ‘ghost’. Apparently not!K xPS - Ring up as ask for a blind rubber mushroom indeed! That and the left-handed screwdriver and stripey paint

The Ace, when they’re busy in the kitchen.

My rubber mushrooms arrived today. They are exactly the same as the ones that went missing.

And I now know what they are called. Gommini paracolpi. Translates as ‘small rubber bumpers’, apparently, though ‘paracolpi’ is a contraction of two words. One meaning ‘save’ and the other meaning ‘strike’ or ‘hit’.

You really needed to know that.

Thanks for the update.

I’ll add the translation into the same file slot as I keep the info on the number of Rhino foot sweat glands and Porcupine pissing distance.

Oh, since you ask, I do know both.
