So my wife is flying with our new born child to Australia and the childs Ticket is £105 before tax and charges…which when added in takes it up to £441.
So a 5 week old baby which doesnt get its own seat is being charged £336 in taxes and charges…wtf!
I really cant understand where they get these taxes from?
best part is if they flew from Paris the flight part is £100 and taxes £110 a massive £231 difference. No wonder Amsterdam and Paris are taking Heathrows business
Whilst trying to work out how these charges are calculated I found out that APD is charged by distance to capital city so its cheaper to fly to Hawaii 15 hours than to Barbados 7 hours…aggghhhhhhh
just gets me pissed off the way we seem to pay highest for everything in the UK
My grandchildren regularly fly Sydney-Heathrow and Heathrow-Sydney, about 8 flights during the last 4 years with British Airways, Quantas and Singapore Airlines. There’s always been one or other of them under two and they’ve never been charged, and on occasions they’ve had seats too.
In our opinion children up to the age of 20 should be charged 300% of the adult fare and babies ( under 10) should have a 500% premium and travel in the hold or better still in detatchable wing pods.
I once flew with jetstream airlines with my 2 children, and as the stewardess came round just after take off we were offered muzzles and rohipnol. the kids made a right racket, but I slept like a baby! I had the oddest dream…
They are flying Quantas and I called back and spoke to someone else and still got same price.
Taking a young baby on a flight is the best time to do it…they eat and sleep and dont care if they are on a plane or in bedroom. Its when they got older that its hell.
