Need your help with a little survey I’m doing on parking in central London (you’re probably spotting a theme here).
As all the figures for bike bay occupancy have been audited through the past few weeks (i.e. winter) so I need to get a clear idea of seasonal adjustment for bike usage.
So can you let me know whether you ride through the winter months with either:
It is more for ‘case and point’ than anything else. This will enable us to target MPs, councillors etc etc with hard evidence that there is already a parking problem and that it is only going to get worse with the extension of the congestion charge.
The FWB figures will enable me to seasonally adjust the parking figures, as the figures I have collected do not currently allow for it (data collected in winter months), and we all know that it is impossible to park in the summer.
Once the report is finished I’ll give you highlights
This year I shall only be riding sometimes through the winter.
Having worked out in the countrside for a couple of years I was exhasperated when I cam back to London. I work over in Marylebone and unless you got in for 8:30 in the summer you could not get a spot in a bay anywhere near where i work. Fortunately I managed to blag an underground parking spot.
Today I looked at the bay across from where I work and at 8:30 there were still a few spaces left. Miracle!
I commuted last year when I had ye olde hornet, but am leaving the storm at home the moment and using the train to get to work instead. On the odd day when I do bike to work (nr liv street), I’m very lucky and have underground parking.
Sometimes, but as the office require me to go around to more than one site it’s easier to use the tube and leave the CBR at home. When I do bring it in I use the secure office car park.
But not in the ice or snow!! Think it sharpens up your skills ready for the summer months. Park at work right outside the bosses window in a private secure yard (council)
