Riding in the snow

Not for a minute thinking about doing it - or suggesting it - think it is bordline reckless from what I’ve seen of the roads my way…

But…if you had a scrambler type bike - with suitable tyres - how would it handle? Anything like driving in sand? Had some fun in sand in the summer - although getting it wrong invariably meant no more than a soft landing.

Those idiots on The BCR have! More icy than snowy:angry: They should be strung-up! The lot’em… They saw 2 cars down. One backwards in the bushes, the other on its roof There were flowers there the following weeks (a fatal?).

OK, time to make a sortie round the A406.

Cool, I’m just near the BCR start. What time will you be here? I’ll go start the Ducati…I dont want to get That Bike dirty!

nuffin to it riding in the snow…just got home from work

Update - Home safely, N.Circ clear of snow:)

Well, with the right equipment …

Is the front tyre the same, or normal?

i didn’t go to work as when i woke up at 3a.m this morning and called the office, they told me not even to attempt to ride in the snow so i didn’t go, just went back to bed… was stuck at my friend’s in Edmonton, just got home an hr ago and couldn’t even get the bike into the front garden…

Yeah that’ll help when some plebb in his/her Mondeo adds you to their own moment. You’ll be brown-bread and they’ll walk away covered in the dust from their airbag!:stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t have a pic of the front, but I would assume that it’s spiked too, otherwise that Busa would be going nowhere.

I’ve seen enough idiots in cars and vans today sliding all over the place, mainly going backwards down the hill, to know I should be leaving the bike at home all week.

FFS, it’s not that hard is it. Wheelspin really isn’t going to get you out of the snow. Was woken up at 5AM this morning by my neighbour’s car hitting the rev limiter for about half an hour. I bet he’s going to complain about his car not being very good in a week’s time or something. They should really ban most people from driving in these conditions.

LMAO, that driver must be related to the kn*b living opposite me, exactly the same approach to wheelspin, gun it!!!

I had fun riding the mtb in yesterday with slicks  … though did see a guy on a vfr …

Work has been closed for the past two days and I was going to ride tomorrow for the first time.
Just been for a walk and the main roads are fine now but the roads from the garage to the main road is like a sheet of ice - difficult to walk on.
I’ve decided to go public transport tomorrow but after checking… its going to take me 2 hours!!! It only takes 30mins by bike :w00t:

I’ll drive in anything, and thought Id be the same on the bike, but seriously, that 400 metres, garage to main road has given me the willies… what if the smaller roads by work are the same?

Tomorrow is going to be a looong day :doze:

its just not worth it i went down my road covered in ice and snow along the slushy roads and into work on more ice no problems. coming home still nothing got onto my road and its now slushy snow and ice got within 10metres on my house and out came the back end and down i went

i’m thinking of riding tomorrow but face same problems, i plan to get up bit earlier and have a walk down my road and see how the side roads look around my way, up where i work, its main roads all the way and as they are bus routes they tend to stay fairly ice free;)

if i have any doubt…i will bus it…Thumper2 has never been down…and is not goign down!

:w00t: hope you had a soft’ish landing dude…hows teh bike?

was a nice squishy one as i was under;)

but no damage as theres about 2 inchs on ice on my road and got crash mushrooms on was just my pride hurt abit
