Ride to work!

Well, having got in a bit earlier than normal, 6.45am instead of 8.30am to let contractors onto the site, I find the parking bay is full of mopeds! Normally completely empty at this time. So lots of people are knicking their kids mopeds to get in to work today!! Look out for some interesting riding styles people, London is in for a lot of fun!!

I 'aint got a job to ride to today!

I’ll go for a ride later though and pretend I’m going to work.

I have. Quicker than usual this morning, perhaps the cagers know and are staying away? Fat chance. A word of warning, though, it also appears to be ‘Fat Pedestrian Hurl Yourself in Front of a Biker’ Day. I must have missed the announcement for that one.

It does keep your reaction times tight though and your observation skills razor sharp. Just wish that the nappy changing bit could be skipped though!

was going to but its going to be too hot so worked to walk instead…

I have to say, I rode very slowly to work because of some of the “unique” riding styles already mentioned. BTW, can we mention to people that if a set of traffic lights are out of order the junction becomes a three or fourway stop!!! Do not hammer through the junction on your moped/bike/scooter because you will come a cropper.

Had a great blat in with another 7 today. All the other bikes on the A13 got out of our way - awesome. Hopefully it will be a nice blat home after Cubana tonight.

I’ll second that…there’s loads of new learners in their wellies on brand spanking Repsol 125 replicas, weaving in and out. Most don’t even have their mirrors set to see what’s behind them, let alone use them…

Keep clear, muppets warning! Awooooga…awoooooooooooooooga! Muppets on mopeds!

Isnt a lot of this down to the fact its “Ride to Work” Day ?? (see Jays post)

Good to see there’s more people riding to work today. It doesn’t matter how they ride (as long as they don’t kill themselves), they’re out there giving it a go! This year wasn’t publicised so well really, but good all the same.

I was nearly taken out 100 metres from my starting point today, some ass in a people carrier just yanked his steering wheel right as I was overtaking, no indication or look, nothing, I have no idea how we didn’t collide, though I suspect first gear and a big handful of throttle helped. Had to stop, get off the bike and run back to the driver who was shouting out of his window, like it was MY fault. Gave him an earful and told him to look where he’s going and got back on my way. Very nearly had a road-rage incident.

Not had a moment like that for a long time, drives me mad!

I did notice loads of bikes on the road and also loads of them on non-safe clothes…

It’s the not safe clothes that gets me down. I rode to the local post office and back (1/2 mile tops round trip) in jeans, boots and light shirt + Lid. Never again. I felt naked. Usually fully kitted out. It is the heat that is getting people to strip off, but seeing how many drivers don’t see us coming, not a good idea.

That’s it! I saw things this morning like girls on flip-flops, skirts, a little t-shirt. Lovely if they were not riding a scooter…

today is no different to any other for me. Riding in past the two mile tailback from Hampton Court to Kingston bridge is great. Whenever there are roadworks, which seems to be about 250 days per year, it is a nightmare driving. Actually had the day off Monday and used the cage. First time in about 3 weeks. The lady friend who was my passenger couldn’t understand why I was getting so agitated by getting stuck at the lights. You can see the lights are green but it takes forever to get through as the people at the front sloooowly start then the traffic creeps through at 15 mph. WTF, THE LIGHTS ARE GREEN… GO YOU C****

I am glad that more people are riding to work but do they really have to act like Jim Henson is doing thier thinkinbg for them ??

Rode in as usual, parking absolutely no problem as usual, but the traffic was worse than usual.

where do u park???

Have to say I didn’t notice a decrease in car traffic, or an increase in bikes this morning.

Having put a flyer on every bike in the workplace on Monday (all 10 of them) about meeting at the Ace for a joint ride to work, it turned out that only the three organisers turned up. Bit of a p**s poor effort I thought.

Highlight of the ride to work was a turbaned seikh riding a very Blade through heavy traffic on the A40. I understand that he can’t wear a helmet for religious reasons, but you wouldn’t catch me doing it!

i think sikhs can wear helmets religious wise as long as the hair is covered…but unsure…suppose if they are willing to take the risk its there choice.

Ill ask one of my mates when i see him later…

My employer has a private bike area, right opposite security guards and porters.
