Looking for help, any of you good people know of a biker website where people actually ride their bikes for fun?
xx
Ignoring the headbanging sports bike riding posers, most one make clubs have a bunch of real bikers. Even the BMW Club.
“Hells Angels” bunch are o.k., even if mostly Harley riders. Politics are a bit strange, but interesting.
I’m sure that even amongst a diverse bunch of bikers such as the London forum there are some proper bike riders.
Count me out, I don’t do organised, just ad hoc and spontaneous.
aaaahhh…feeling a bit unloved are we?
have been on many an LB member organised ride out and will continue to do so.
But with the rugby season in full swing and the weathe being kinda crap my sunday rides are chosen wisely.
am i a headbanging sports bike rider??? hell yes.

Missed out again then, he who is cautious is lost to the Fates.
Ignoring the headbanging sports bike riding posers, …
Good to hear your not a poser. The rest is o.k. with me as long as you don’t want me to join.
Hang on. Your ride in winter. Good. Be member number 1 of the (non existant) all year round bikers club.
Or are you member 2 after Jetstream? Or 3 after him and me? Or me and him?
Borrocks, I’m off to bed.
Looks like a lot have gone into hibernation already, only 25 bikes in boxhill carpark at midday last sunday.
Me don’t commute on bike, My Bike is for Fun
Jetstream,
Will you for f*cks sake stop playing with my posts and PM’s. Amusing though they are I will come around and ****** you dog if you don’t stop.
O.k., I know she enjoyed it the last time around, but this time…
I am up for a pootle, when i am not elsewhere on the bike
I’m virtually always up for a rideout but have the misfortune of living the wrong side of London for a ride that starts at Ace. The long night-time ride home afterwards isn’t too appealing.
Jetstream - have you considered moving to wonderful, sunny Surrey? Croydon can actually seem a beautiful, crime- and concrete-free town if you borrow my rose-tinted glasses. And there are some nice routes around here.
For god’s sake man, what are you trying to do. Lower the property values.
He’s dangerous enough in North London, don’t encourage him to come south of the river!
If we are going that way we can always start at Box Hill - or anywhere else for that matter. The way we have always decided where to go is to look at the weather forecast mid week and plan a ride from there. As winter draws in we sometimes decide the night before or that morning. We only set off from the Ace as it is 5 mins away, but don’t worry, we’ll be going your way if you get any decent weather, and we’ll post it up:)
Thanks JS. If you plan a ride from BH and ends that side of London then safe to assume I will be there but there are 2 more "if"s: I have no prior unmoveable arrangements eg crimbo shopping for my 1000s of rels; and weather must be dry or mostly dry (I ride all year round but don’t enjoy riding in rain enough to justify the fuel etc costs).
If you join LAM you can opt to be an “Essex Girl” and then get regular calls from associates wanting to ride with you so you can show them your skills. And they will pay for your petrol. Just a thought.
I’ll be riding through the winter but it takes me 40 mins to get to the Ace on a good day. And with so many good roads up here that don’t involve London congestion, the A406 or the idiot drivers found there it’s pointless me coming all the way in for a ride that goes back out again.
I have wry doubts all the time. Can you help, Jetstream team?
umm, well most of us ride our bikes all seasons, and if we fancy a rideout its a case of txting, im afraid the web dont quite cut if, just a few hours ago i arranged a rideout by telephone, and im afraid it hasnt made it onto biking forums:w00t:
I ride/commute all winter
happy to come out to play on the weekend if the skydiving doesn’t get in the way Qx
Riding your bike is never pointless
I rode all the way down to the ace, which takes me a good hour or so, then we rode back up past where i live. I would have rode back down with everyone too but i had to get away due to work.
Im always up for a ride out if im around/free, no matter the weather.
