Ride Outs

Hi everyone,

I know I’m new here but I have an idea to organise Ride Outs easily.

There is an App for Android and iPhone called WeRide, the App is free and easy to use. The website with the info is http://www.werideapp.com.

We can create a group for the forum.

Up for it?

It does look a very handy app, but I think many on here are alergic to new technology

Imagine, on a ride out, if something goes wrong there is a group chat and a way of seeing where everyone is! Could solve a lot of problems.

EDIT Anyway, I’ve set up a group called ‘London Bikers’, so anyone daring enough to try it, search for the group

Looks good to me! Downloaded!

Last time I got lost was New Years Day 1971 and I forgot to ask her ‘with whom am I having the pleasure’

Just to be a group admin :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway, Andy is right, this may be useful when you have a lost situation or just in general who is in who is not, etc. Wonder if Mr Jetstreem would give it a go?

It’s not just getting lost yourself, the more important thing is when you lose others! Never missed anyone when you’re tailgunning?

dont really want to upset you Andy, but isnt it easier to call someone on the phone if they are not showing up within the next 15 min?

thats what we’ve been doing so far and it seems to work.

Sure, I’ve never been on a ride and someone’s got lost. We have a foolproof system already :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t fight technology Alba, accept it

So if you want to lose someone do you have to send them duff data?

What about those with other OS than Android or iOS?

Yep, I’m on a Blackberry, does this mean I will definitely get lost?!

Hush now Andy, Skylark hasn’t read this yet

OK I can see the benefits, could be handy when on an Iron Butt too. Letting your nearest and dearest know how you’re doing and where you are but would that count for or against it?

Then again my phone is just that, a phone, it sends and receives calls/texts it doesn’t make the tea.

Installed, now the research begins…I’m geographically challenged so need all the help I can get…:Whistling:

They need to sell their current devices and buy one of the two Android devices currently for sale on the forum :stuck_out_tongue:

Call?

  1. Not really big fan of answering phone when I’m riding, distractions may cause some sh…
  2. (that only me) I don’t have all cool kids numbers so if I get lost the only way is Essex… on satnav and going home.
  3. You just disagree because there is no Windows Mobile version, don’t you?

Muah,
R

Phone call is ok but…
If someone is riding around looking for the cornermen that left their post they are not going to be taking calls!! Plus if everyone has stopped you can open the App straight away and see where they are instead of waiting 15mins to try calling someone that won’t answer!
Technology - Gotta love it! ;):stuck_out_tongue:
