As Charlie has paid off the Rain Gods for his France trip, I thought we should take advantage of that and organise a ride out for those of us who can’t make it to France.
The route is yet to be confirmed, but I am looking at meeting in West Hampstead at 10.15am. Rex Judds have a breakfast club so basically we can all pile in there to get a voucher then pop over the road to the cafe and have brekkie courtesy of Rex Judd. Can’t argue with free food eh, lol.
We’d be looking to leave West Hampstead by 11.00am with our full bellies and head out West and ride through The Chilterns and over in that general direction. Then after about 2/3 hours riding, stop somewhere for refreshments/lunch etc before heading back. We’d be aiming to get back to The Ace about 6pm - before it gets too cold! There might well be another couple of tea stops if there are some on route to break up the journey.
The route wont include any motorways so those on 'L’s can join in, and I think we should use the cornerman system to keep us all together. Anybody coming who has Sat Nav, let me know who you are so we can get the route programmed into as many devices as possible.
If people don’t know how to get to West Hampstead, I’m happy to lead from the Ace at 10am sharp!
EDIT: CHANGE OF PLAN - WILL NOW BE LEAVING THE ACE AT 11AM
So come on - who’s up for it!

I’m pretty sure I’ll be there. Had a little “incident” the other night so waiting for damaged knee to recover at the mo. I’m sure I’ll be back on form by Sunday…although both me and the bike will still be bearing the scars sigh
If there are quite a few going, you’ll need someone to lead (who will keep an eye on everyone else and make sure you don’t lose anyone), someone to sweep, and people to be cornermen (or corner people if you’re being politically correct about it all )
If you don’t do that, you’ll probably find yourself losing people all over the place.
A “system” would involve having a fixed leader and a fixed tail-end-Charlie acting as sweeper. Every time the group comes to a turning, the 2nd place rider pulls over and points the rest of the group through, only continuing on his way when the tail-gunner arrives.
