revised bike test

As this seems to be the font of all knowledge I have a question/query.

I have a couple of friends who I am trying to cajole into taking their bike tests. I know both are keen but just need a push in the general direction.

The thing is I am telling them that they need to be quick and get the test booked before April next year as I believe this is when the new test is finally coming into force, but they are telling me that they have spoken to an instructor who tells them that its the year after which doesnt make sense to me.

Question 1. Which of us is correct?

Question 2. Is the new style test determined by the booking date or the date of the test?

Last I heard it was meant to have came in Sept 2008 but was put back for 6 months so maybe its been pushed back even further!

Thats right, the test was moved to april to give all bike schools time to get in line with the new requirements, but then all things got confused because the schools got into loggerheads with the dept of transport or vosa (cant remember which)

yer I heard 6 months from sept so April sounds more like the correct date to me…

I would tell them to get in quick though as these spaces will fill up fast (even in the winter)

to say that the places go quickly is a joke, the school I recommended in Burnham is booked till mid march
