White Van driver much maligned in my view. Well at least the one from Harrow Council who whilst puliing on to the A404 last night had the presence of mind to look beyond the row of parked cars and not wipe me out.
To be fair if I had been knocked off it would more then likely been my own stupid fault.
By way of background, and to somehow justify my actions I had been stuck behind the learner driver brigade on their way to the Pinner Test centre, who all seem to beleive that you have to drive everywhere at 15 miles per hour.
Having been stuck behind these vehicles for some time and on seeing there being no on-coming traffic I decided it was time to get to my god given rightful place as a biker, ie the front.
So I opened the throttle hard, well a bit to hard as the front wheel left the ground, it was then through the joy of peripheral vision that I saw the vans approach from a side road. Front wheel still in air and impact imminent I had to decide what to do with, what I thought, were my last moments on earth.
so I stepped hard on the rear brake to bring the front wheel down then when down pulled on the front brake, thats when I felt the rear wheel lifting.
I needn’t have paniced though as the van driver had more sense then I, and had only oulled out far enough to see past the line of parked cars. Needless to say shalln’t do it again.
