had a good ride yesterday to the Ace after work, it was a bit windy but coming over some of the flyers at speed i was getting a lot of shaking from the front.
i’m putting it down to the bars, they are standard and quite narrow, a mate who was with us was also on a hornet and had no worries with shaking but he has Renthal Ultra Low bars which are that bit lower and wider than standard, so i’m thinking do i change them!?
what i am after is something a bit wider than standard but not stupidly wide! i filter so they need to be a sensible width and i dont want the brace thingy across it.
Personally I’d rule out an out of profile front tyre and head bearing wear/adjustment first.
I’ve ridden that vintage of Hornet enthusiastically and never had a problem with head shaking. But then I am a phat phucker so probably keep the front pinned to the tarmac
front tyre is pretty much brand new, it only does if its windy or on wide open m-ways etc, i’m not a massive wheelie merchant and bike has fairly low milage for its age, i think its the bars due to how narrow they are but will get head race checked.
also i am slim and only about 10 stone most bikes get lively when i really push them:D
maybe i should go and buy something better? but i like my little hornet
I have lower wider bars on my Hornet, I’ll check what it is I think it might be Renthal, never had any issues but also cannot compare as I bought it with these and never had standard bars
id rule out any malfunction on the horny before changing the bars. the renthal bars are thicker and therefore heavier than standard. only helps for mirror vibes. My 2pence is unbalanced wheel or headstock or similar.
