Hi all
My engine is out of the bike while I do my valve clearances so I though I might as well get some bits and bobs shot basted and powder coated while I have the opportunity - including frame, swing arm, covers, etc.
Can anyone recommend a good shot blasting/powder coating service in London area?
Cheers
if you mask it up properly and spend a good 10mins talking to them fully about what you want/dont want and the quality your after ive always used Cray Metal in Dartford and been very happy
on my hunt i have found willows in mitcham candy wheels in tats field and sofar the cheapest way iv found is a sand blasters in penge that then sent there stuff to willows in trade discount so it works out cheaper they wear 75-80 for frame and he said 140 all in should cover frame swingarm and all the little bits i needed
Taking it all to Cray metal who was recommended by others too, they quoted me about 75 quid for frame AND swinger including degreasing and shotblasting! Cheers Lew.
Swerver, you need to spend time talking to them, make sure they need to know where to mask on each bit. Also you can pick the right shade of the colour you like.
to add: they are powder coaters, not motorbike powder coaters so, although very good, they need to be told whats what.
Armourtex in Hackney, near Homerton Hospital. Great service - maybe not the cheapest, but I recommend.
Cheers Lew, I already talked to one of the fellas down there and I have the name of the bloke who actually does the powder coating (Jeff) so will talk to him when I take all the stuff down there and make sure he’s 100% sure on what to do, some of the covers will need to be colour matched to my existing bling parts too.
Only problem I have now is getting my final swingarm bearing out! Already broken a home-made press and a heavy duty vice trying to get it out  Modified gear puller and propane torch assault next. Cheers!
