Recommended Polish and Cleaners ?

Hi. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on bodywork, wheel polish and soap/cleaners for an RR ? The bike is new but I’m finding the paint is marking very easily, although I’m not sure if the marks are only on the surface and not through in the paint, hopefully a good clean and polish will clear them up. So far a few people have recommended AutoGlym ?

Thanks,
Stuart.

Anything by Autoglym.

I find Mer very good and always use it on my bikes

Personally I’ve never been a fan of the Autoglym products.

I really rate the Meguiars stuff. They do a 3 stage cleaner/polish/wax kit which I’ve found to be very good.

well i gen use autoglym, and turtlewaxes, gives the tiger a nice glossy coat. hehe:D

I’ve always used autoglym as well. Although, I’m probably biased because I used to work there.

Still, I’ve always loved the finished article after using it.

Having just polished my bike this afternoon I’d recommend Meguiars Gold Class polish - gives a really good shine!I cleaned my chain 1st and noticed that degreaser works well on the wheels so cleaned all the muck off with that, washed the bike after, leathered it off - used some pre-polish stuff that I use on my car to get rid of swirl marks & boot marks where i hit it getting my leg over  - buff that off and then Meguairs the lot :)Cant really see it in the pic but its really shiny & new looking :cool:Until I’ve been to work and back a couple times anyway ha ha

Autoglym Deep Resin polish takes the marks out of my black bike - black shows up scratches really easily.

And I use ACF50 on everything except the bodywork - even makes old “greyed” calipers look like new.

good thread guys… thanks

I have this god-awful oak tree outside mine that drops resin spray in Spring… bike looks like it has been tarred and feathered…

think some autoglym and a dash of elbow grease is in order.

I can recommend you some cleaners who also happen to be Polish. And some decorators too.

+1…

I use Meguiars 3 stage too… in fact, I’ve just done my bike this morning with it…

Same here, pain in the butt

Hi stu ,

I know it’s abit late , new to LB but did you sort the marks on your bodywork out ?

I love riding a clean bike but hate doing it. On the Bandit I have a good job cleaning all the engine casing.

WD40 small areas at a time work in with a nylon brush then jet spray off then wash with turtle wax car cleaning shampoo. jet off again and then shamie smooth.

Got calipers. (Yes we all have) use turtle wax alloy cleaner. You have to be quick, spay liberally on the calliper and brackets. Work with tooth brush/paint brush then jet off or bucket of water ASAP. Best tip ever for clean calipers.

I use auto glym resin polish and the metal polish give a good shine but have to do small areas at a time.

WD40 on a rag and wipe the wheels will give a good shine and clean on the RR assuming wheels are black inside.

Exhaust down pipes 3 in 1 oil on a rag when cold rub on and leave for a while then I use a washing up pad (scowerer thing green and yellow) scowerer side to rub all rust and sh!t off then rub down again. Then run the engine hot to burn off excess oil and water.

Ive just brough the new Autoglym Aqua Wax. Bloody amazing, you simply wash the bike, use a microfiber cloth to roughly dry it (doesnt need to be dry, just not soaking) spray it on, buff it and done. You can wax all the parts with the one wax and it you do the whole bike in 10 mins. Amazing finish

Go buy some

Muc-off cleaner and muc-off polish for after as it’s safe on plastics and doesn’t stain the seat permanently if i get some on it.
Autoglym car polish waxes extra gloss on the tank again to let the water bead and run off it.
Works really well.
