How else can you explain the attitude of BMW Park Lane?
Thinking about my next bike and saw the Ride review that rated BMW K1200s as 3rd most popular used bike. Got in touch with BMW Park Lane to arrange a test ride.
They said that because a new model is due in the New Year (K1300) they no longer have a demonstrator. All they can off is a quicky ride on a used one but “only up and down the road - no more than 5 minutes becuase we have to keep the mileage down” I said this would be a waste of time for a serious buyer. Best they could offer was a test ride on a K1300 in January.
So my conclusion is that all this talk of recession must be overdone as it seems there loads of people prepared to buy a second hand bike for £10k without even trying it properly!
I ride out past through Richmond, past Twickenham to work these days and EVERY morning, there’s hundreds of Euan MacGregor WANNABES’s in their full silver suits with metal top boxes and pannier packs. Drive like utter BMW owners as well!
BMW actually make a couple of cracking bikes. But that is my opinion.
When I was looking at buying one the other year I was told not to bother with Park Lane, but to go to SBW Motorrad in Hertford as they were far far better. This came from someone living in London who own a BMW.
Agree, I’m going to become a Ewan wanabee in the spring if the retirement plans come off and if things at home don’t work out.
It will then be a 6 month tour around Europe for me.
Agree with Kevsta about dealerships, when I wanted to test ride the R1200GS Adventurer I went to the Tunbridge Wells dealership I was booked in for 2 hrs but as they had nobody else booked in after me I got it for 5 hrs and was just asked if I’d mind returning it with the same amount of fuel as there was when I left.
I’m sure your a nice fella Trigger - but how many of the rest of you who ride jap bikes and nod the bmw rider get blanked? Park Lane seem to sum up the attitude and image of the marque as a whole - cold and arrogant!
