Some pics from my first trackday, went with a crew of about 30 from www.gixercrew.co.uk, awesome day and definetly goin back think I have the trackday bug. Was chuffed with the Z it went really well round the little circuit.
Looking good Tim! Thanks for posting up. I can’t wait to get back there, I love Cadwell! Oh the Mountain…

Nice pics mate, glad you enjoyed the track and kept it rubber side down.
nice pics mate looks like a good day
looking like a natural moutainier!
see what you’ve been missing, i can’t get enough of that place.
cheers for pics
I like the pic’s.
Iv’e heard lot’s about the mountain section, you definatly get cool pic’s going over it.
Do you have to come off the throttle or dab the back brake going over there?
It’s pretty steep, so yeah, you have to do something to ease the power, otherwise you’ll loop it. I’d love to find out what technique the BSB boys use, they FLY over it, both wheels off the deck. Last time I was at Cadwell, I crapped myself with a big wheelie over it, but I wasn’t able to do wheelies then, so am quite looking forward to going back knowing I can have a proper stab at it
Maybe that’s the answer then, full throttle and jump it!! instead of wheelieing over it and fliping it.
Let me know what the outcome is Jay!
If you observe the top guys going over they usually are sitting on the tank with there head out from behind the fairing and down on the right as low as they can get it. This moves as much weight to the front to hold it down instead of it going skywards. The head goes right because the next bend is a slight right.
Other options are to just touch the back brake or change up a gear as you get to the top, theres two small crests and it should be changed at the second one.
For me it was bloody hard to keep the front down in fact the only time i did was under a red flag. To keep things to a minimum I was keeping low in the revs (second i think) which meant i could put the power on up the mountain and just have to knock it off a little. A guy on a R6 in novices flipped it, by the sounds of it he was in first high in the rev range and just lost throttle control. I’ve always read that to jump you need to be on a constant throttle, if you knock it off you nose dive, too much and you wheelie.
Have you got to be going v fast, or would the novice group on a track day get the front wheel off?
Anyone will do it, and most bikes will. I clearly remember the first time I went over the mountain on my old R6… that lap, and the following was brilliant, but the third lap… well, I was FLYING faster than anyone else over the mountain. It’s just a shame I didn’t see the corner after it in time.
I can’t wait to do it now!
