Having changed my basic shock to a gsxr one i now feel it needs setting up due to everything feeling bumpy now. I will go see B and get it all done but i want to learn what does what so i can tweak it instead of not having a clue.
I presume that your bike isn’t a GSXR, which will mean that the geometry and linkages are not the same, and probably the spring rate is different, too. Hopefully the stroke is the same as the unit you removed, otherwise there could be problems caused by this.
Based upon the above assumptions, the stock GSXR settings will probably not be suitable for your bike, so you will have to start from scratch, which means experimenting. I presume you understand the dynamics of compression and rebound damping, and how that feels as you ride the bike. You need a starting point, and I’d probably try minimum damping on both, and see how that feels, increasing the damping gradually depending how it behaves on the compression and rebound accordingly. It may take you several tweaks to get it how you want, though.
Watch this, it covers all the suspension, I watched this before going to B, could have done it myself, but nothing really beats experience and B did a lot more then just set up the suspension.
cheers guys i need to sort out the sag and all sorts but did add tighten the spring abit and two clicks slower on the rebound (i think it was the rebound lol) and it was so civil on the road either way ive got alot to learn
