Rear ended

Sorry to hear that you were hit from behind. I’ve had it at 20-30mph and it is not nice. If going through insurance make sure that you have a witness as the driver who did it to me is now trying to weasel out of it. I’ve got a witness, so he is stuffed.

Get everything checked over and your drive belt etc… Transfer of force through the body to internals could have damaged something else you cannot see.

Hope this gets sorted asap.

Ouch JP! Hope you’re feeling alright. What a plank of a driver.

I’d do the whole thing through (his) insurance, get everything checked, get anything worn replaced, and treat your bike to one of JT’s nice valeting services at the driver’s expense while you’re at it.

I’d also check that you’re not feeling any whiplash this morning, and consider getting a crime number for the incident. Surely this is driving without due care etc on his part?

Basically, I’d make it as unpleasant for the driver as possible. How else will people learn to take it seriously when they’re sitting behind the wheel of a tonne of metal that they can’t stop ramming up your rear end?

I replied to another post about same thing, but yeh this happened to me last week, when i was on my way to B in twickenham to get my bike suspension etc set up…same thing happened only no damage cos he “bumped” my rear tyre and it wobbled me but i stayed on…he did this TWICE…theres not a word in the dictionary to describe these %$£&*&&&&"$$'s

Got a quote from my dealer today and they have come up with a price of £250 for everything.
All the driver needed to do is give £90 and i would have done the work myself, but now a garage has got involved it`s parts, labour charge and a bike hire.

I do hope you aren’t suggesting that Mr John Thompson would aid in the defrauding of the drivers insurance by “topping up” an insurance claim. We all know what an upstanding pillar of the scooter community he is and would never do anything like that.;):D:D:D

Chunky, JT has been good to me for about 6 years now, i have never had a bad bike of him, never had a bad service off him and whenever i needed help or advice he`s always been happy to help me and others that i know.

Pleased for you mate and long may it continue:)

bloody hell i just got rear ended on the A40 luckily it was stop and go traffic so he just bumped me foward a touch. turned around to see who hit me low and behold it’s some twat in an old fiesta giving me the finger. that really pissed me off so since he was still on my back tire i did a lovely little burnout on it for good measure. hopefully that’s the last time he decides to play with a bike.

Sorry to hear about this JP, when will these people learn to pay attention, glad to hear you’re OK though, mind you now you have an excuse to ‘fighter’ the scoot!!

Jules that just sucks big time!!

The thing that p1$$es me off the most about hearing of these things is that if you had fallen off and damaged yourself and/or the bike, he’d have claimed no responsibility. His bumper probably wouldn’t have left any trace of contact on your rear tyre so he’d just claim you lost your balance and it was your own fault, bar stewards!!

I’m sure you had a mouthful ready for him, if he’d have done that to me TWICE he’d have got a mouthful of crash helmet!!

Tim i can`t fighter the scoot, it will only make Terry jelous as it will look bettre than his.

Good point JP, I think Tel’s running out of dummy’s as it is!!

I rang my insurance people up to find out what is happening and they said waiting for them to reply to a letter they sent.

I got rear ended, i was at a red light and the driver acelerated into me as they hadnt seen the light was red or me sat there on a vespa with 600km on the clock! the witness said the driver was reading a map, the driver told her insures it was my fault, police drove by didnt want to get involved, sued the driver took just over a year…won! she only decided to take responsibilty when the witness came forward…and if i wasnt lying on the floor at the time i would have smashed her windscreen with my bloody helmet! bloody drivers… it will never happen again!

unfortunatly…fat chance:ermm:

never say never. I had it happen to me twice in 5 weeks. Still fighting the second case now. The driver refuses to admit liability, I have a witness, so they are stuffed.

Had phone call today saying the accesor wants to see my bike, so hopefully now i can get it fixed.

If I were you, a personal injury claim would be forthcoming plus compensation for lost of use while you get the part and get a £100 per hour technician to look at it to make sure nothing else is wrong with the bike.
Or maybe it is just me… Law school really me up… :hehe:

I had the bike checked out after the accident and it`s fine.

Glad you are not hurt.

I had one run into the back of me last year when I stopped at a roundabout.

He was drinking a McD’d milkshake at the time… Car drivers… Muppets, all of 'em…

Luckily one of my students was behind him and witnessed the whole thing…
