My exhaust makes this horrible tinny rattly sound on tickover - I’ve checked EVERYTHING - nothing loose - what can it be? ZX7R doesn’t have an exup valve or anything in there that might have fallen to bits and is rattling - Oh crap - I just had to share this with someone. . .:crazy::crazy:
take it of and shake it see if you can locate the source…
Thanks Adz - but I’ve spent so much time on this effing bike - it’s like the never ending story. . .
I’ll have to take the whole system off - I’ve had the can off and it wasn’t that - I’m scared the header studs will be seized like everything else and . . .and. . . oh crap. . . IVE HAD ENOUGH. . .AAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!
Probably all them broken drill bit ends:D
:P:P:P (laughing and crying hysterically at the same time)
hehehe…
well sid my KTM Rattles a fair bit… there aint much point in worrying about it… just ride it!!!
The kawaskai badge seems to rattle on most the bikes that have them…
Are you sure it isn’t a two stroke?
you didnt forget a spanner in there did you?
To be honest - it feels that the last two months of my life and loads of cash has dissappeared down this Kawasakis exhaust pipe. . .:DYes Adz - I’m gonna ride it - no more down time in the garage! ;)After all this spannering I’ve probably turned it into a 2-stroke G. . .
Don’t know what your moaning about mine sounds like a Tambourine:w00t:
Sounds like the cat converter or baffles have corroded. You might be able to open the can up and remove broken/loose bits.
Mine is more of a 60’s jazz hi-hat cymbal kinda sound. . .
Thanks Fridayman - that sounds like you may have nailed it - I have tried to locate the sound - and itseems to be emanating from the forward end can area - (natch i have made sure all exterior fittings are tight) - I might just junk the can. . .
If it’s a stock exhaust that is welded shut then it could be that the internal baffle has come loose. That happened on my CB500, it only rattled some of the time but it was really annoying so I bought a new end can.
Thanks Joby - things are becoming clearer now, thankyou - yep the exhaust is stock and welded shut - and from what you say I reckon it is the internal baffle. I’ll buy a new end can when I’ve got the lolly - thanks.
Thanks everyone - I reckon I have this prob nailed now.
Stock exhaust ??
Get it replaced ASAP !!
But trick cans are expensive. . . :crying:
I sympathise,
For the past few weeks my ZX6 has developed an annoying rattle, Im reasonably confidant its the exhaust, spent two hours last night in fading light making sure the header bolts were tight which they were. It seemed to have solved it, went for a ride, smiling with glee as i went down my road hearing my bike roaring for the first time in weeks, only for the rattle to come back after it had warmed up Grrrrr!!!.
Mines an aftermarket can welded on. Who sort out exhausts on the cheap within the m25?
would this fit?
Thanks Pan! i’ll pm him!
