Race scrubs for trackday/road use

Suggest a trip to Stevenage to have a look to see if you want to buy. Am at SG1 2DL. We are moving to Baldock in November, so these really need to go before we move.

I have:

Size 120 (fronts)
5 x Metezeler Racetec
3 x Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa (new cut slick type)
2 x Pirelli Rain (wets - suitable for a wet track day only)
4 x Pirelli Dragon Supercorsa (old hex cut style)
1 x Michelin Power Race

Size 160 (rears e.g. SV650,400s*)
1 x Pirelli Diablo
6 x Pirelli Dragon Supercorsa Pro (old hex cut style)
4 x Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa (new cut slick type)

Size 180 (rears e.g. 600s*)
1 x Metezeler Racetec
1 x Michelin Power Race

Size 190 (rears e.g. 1000s*)
3 x Metezeler Racetec
1 x Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa (new cut slick type)

All £40 or less. PM me for a deal on bulk. Advertised elsewhere. Priority to the guys I chatted to at BMM.

*check the wall of your current tyre before making a deal - sizes are usually presented as e.g. 160/60/17

Note that these are all ex RACE TYRES.

FYI my response to an enquiry:I use these tyres all year round on the ZX10 [racetec 190] because on the road I really dont lean it that much but it is up to you. If you did want to use some [of these] tyres [over winter] the old hex type are better than the new cut slick type if you are considering [160] pirellis because you need more tread for the wet days:

The MiniTwin class [160s] is deliberately run as close to a road bike as possible, so these tyres are more than legal for the road [edit: in fact, you cannot run in the class UNLESS you have road legal tyres on], but have been used for racing.

Your call.

i think tiggi’s gonna want a set for her track bike, i’ll let her know

Cheers Curtis ;)Here is a response to another email concerned about heat cycles and wear of the tyres:

The Heat cycles have to do with compound and rate of wear. The compound on the pirellis here is SC1 front, SC2 rear. The SC index is Pirelli’s way of indicating how soft or hard the tyre compound is. SC0 is supersoft, SC1 is soft, SC2 is medium and so on. When you heat the tyres up with tyre warmers or during a race, you expose them to higher temperatures than on the road normally. This, combined with tyre pressure [and suspension setup] will determine the rate of wear on track.

When you heat up and let cool down a tyre quickly - particularly a new tyre - that is one heat cycle. Generally, the more heat cycles a tyre goes through the faster it ages, but I should stress that this only really applies to track use and not road use and relates to the extreme temperatures of the tyres and pushing them on track rather than the slow heat-up/cool-down that road use gives the tyres.

Road use indicators that should be concentrated upon are age of the tyre [I wouldnt recommend track use after more than about 4 - 5 years of age because the rubber tends to harden] and tread type/amount of meat left in the middle of the tyre. [and size, of course lol]

I do need some for the ZX6R, will check the sizes this evening and let you know

Hi there, you have a PM.
