Hi, Because my stock exhaust system is beginning to annoy me I want a new can but don’t know what to choose. I’ve narrowed it down to four manufacturers now and just wanted to know which one in general, looks, sounds, etc the best! And if you could tell me why you think the can from the four is the best? Here they are:
Akrapovic Titanium/Carbon FibreBlue Flame Oval SS/Titanium Twin-ExitYoshimura Tri-Ova Titanium Twin-ExitMicron Oval “Fusion” Black to RedI’m heading more towards the Yoshi system now and can’t find anywhere with prices on any can I’ve suggested, so if someone knows how much they cost or knows a webby please reply. Would help if a few people replied so I can average it out although I’ll probably go for an alternate as I seem to change my mind a lot Thanks all!
TBH I don’t really care much for the sound of the exhaust but obviously it comes with it anyway, I just want something that looks nice than my original ‘annoying to clean’ can! Though I’d be cleaning it more with an additional £300+ Slip-on on there
Everyone gets something different from their bikes, and when looking at the exhaust, I’m looking for sound, performance and looks, generally in that order!
I think the Micron would look the best on your bike, but the Akra is the best performing (power release, and lightness, the others won’t touch it for lightness). The Akrapovic will weigh so little you won’t believe when you compare them in your hands. You can lose 5kg or more, and release about 4bhp by putting on an aftermarket slip-on/bolt-on can.
Don’t really like the look of Carbon Fibre, My last can was one and didn’t like it very much… I am considering the Yoshimura Tri-Oval but the Slip-on doesn’t come with twin-exit its only the full system, so I’ve e-mailed them asking them if they can do it and how much if possible… Akrapovic only do two types, Carbon and Titanium and its really popular and I like to be kinda original and different so thats why im not really guna go for Akky…
You won’t get the twin-exit on the slip-on version of the Yoshimura can, it’s highly sought after and they save it for their top-line item. I know, as I’ve been there and tried it before. Have you looked at Termignoni’s Hennessy? They run those on the Yamaha Supersport/Superstock/Superbike machines, and they look well trick, imo.
Yea I thought so, and I’m not buying a full system just to get the twin-outlet! I’ve looked at Termignoni but again Carbon Fibre - SS - Titanium, looks near enough the same as Akrapovic in a sense and doesn’t really stand out that much… still might go for a Yoshi just with one outlet…
If you want something different and original then go to www.zorstec.com (could be co.uk)… don’t get much more original than that… A mate got a set of underseat pipes made for his Tuono… looked awesome!
Have you thought about a Tri-Oval Blueflame, they come with twin port any finish you wnat (tit. carbon s/s) and are road legal - best all of worlds, except maybe power gains. Good price as well compared to Yoshi and Akra.
Yea I’ve considered the Blue Flame Tri-Oval but it seems more square then the Yoshi one, And Blue Flame are supposedly going broke aren’t they? I’ll tell you what I decide on next week when I order one whatever one that may be?? And once it comes I’ll post some pix up of it! Thanx for the replies guys!
Just from personal opinion I would go for the blue flame. Very similar sounding to the Akro and a lot cheaper. Plus they have the easiest baffle insert and removal system.
What have you got on yours mate, I can’t quite make it out from here?? I was guna go 4 Blue Flame but my mate has just bought one for his CBR600FS and I like to be different really… although hes is just the oval titanium one!
