Race/Advanced Riding schools South East

Hi All,

I’m looking at taking some advanced lessons (then hopefully doing some track days). From searches, keep coming up with the California Superbike School at Silverstone - anyone know of a similar day at Brands or other South East track? Any previous experiences etc appreciated.

Cheers for any help!

Tim

Hi,

CSS used to do Brands Hatch, but the track upped its prices and became too expensive for them. I enjoyed CSS Level 1 there a 18 months ago.

Ron Haslam seems to be the other major outfit for training - but again at Silverstone - http://www.haslamraceschool.com/

However, you mention needing some advanced training then doing track days? You can do a track day even as a novice - just take your time. And the track-day organisers usually have a few instructors who can give you free coaching on lines and techinque. You can learn a lot from them! I’m sure there’ll be some LondonBiker track days coming this year, which are a great way to try a track with friendly faces.

Other forms of pre-track advanced instruction can include the Police BikeSafe scheme, which I hear can teach some very useful skills, and not just about being “cautious”.

i did advance lessons with kevin at http://www.facebook.com/SurvivalSkills after bike safe. I was going to do the CSS and Ron Haslam both seem very good but thought I’d get more road practice in. I’ll prob do the haslam next summer.

only issue silverstone is a very fast track would prefer Donnington.

Become a member of The London Advanced Motorcyclists. Great people (as well as me), 121 coaching, tours and track days.

Yes I would agree…IAM is a good way of improving your riding skills and confidence (as is ROSPA and ERS). I joined KAMG last year and feel a completely different rider now to how I felt last year.

Ron Haslam Race school is good bang for your buck on the trackday training front too and really gives you confidence cornering.

Any kind of training would be good so what ever you do just do something.

The best mod you can do is to improve your riding skills.

Be safe

Neil

Cheers for the responses! Will def. have a look into the IAM.

You need to think what you want to get from the training. Track training is not roadcraft. Two very different approaches to riding.
