R6 air filters

Hi to you all, As some of you may know I’ve just changed my oil… Twice

My R6 has just reached 5,200 miles and I’m wondering if I should be looking at changing the air filter too?

The brake pads and possibley the spark plugs?

If so what air filter, pads and plugs do you rate and recomend changing to?

I know that soon the bike will be going in for it’s first big service …so should I bother?

Check your service schedule in your manual but I’m sure the air filter is good for about 12,000 miles and the sparks should be good for 8000 miles.

If changing filter to a performance type, I’d suggest BMC over K&N as K&N apparently flows air inconsistently which adversely affects performance. Not in a big way mind and you’ll probably never notice, but hey 1 BHP here or there is a massive difference in the bike world right

Saying all that, many race teams stick with the Yamaha OEM filter as it is very good as standard.

Graves’ says they only run the stock airfilter in their race bikes. Apparently, Yamadog does a pretty good job at this.

I use a BMC filter on my R1 … Mainly so I can clean it, rather than replace. Seems to work well with my pipes and PCIII.As for the rest of the parts; ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!’ - Leave it until it gets serviced.
