Hi all,

Had a bit of a rough day today and i just wanted to ask a few questions to anyone who can answer.

At 9 this morning on the the way to work my partner Maria was just out of goodge street station on tottenham court road mins from her work.

out of the blue some guy on a bike tries to grab her bag. she pulls back & says to him what the hell you doing.

he lets go of the bag & begins a viscous assault on her. punches her in the face a few times then when she collapses he runs & kicks her in the back before leaving…without her bag.

she managed to throw one punch back but it didn’t really help.

for those of you who have met Maria you’ll know she is a tiny little thing. maybe that’s why this coward targeted her.

what gets me is that it was rush hour with hundreds of people around & not one person even tried to help. LONDON’S SO FULL OF HERO’S!!!

What i would like to know is

what are the chances of finding this guy?

coz he better hope they find him before me.

if they do find him can we sue. thought of this as it would effect his family. if this kid is not worried about the police he may effect him if his family are effected.also, can i personly go and get copies of cctv tapes from the shops. i know the police , who were great, will do this but i want to see this guy myself.

It makes me sick. what sort of man…no sorry, coward hits a young women. he didnt even want the bag in the end. it was just a nasty un provoked attack on a harmless girl. im sort of glad i didnt see this as i would now be in a cell facing some serious charges of my own. what the hell is this world coming to. not one person stepped up to help. not even a shout to try & get him to stop.

also, if someone gets pulled without tax, insurance on a desperate mission after hearing that someone they love has just been viscously assaulted would you have been lenient with him knowing he was going to get it sorted within a few days.

NOT ME OFFICER & ii know the guy has never done this before or wouldnt have done it then if he had a choice.

That’s dreadful. I can’t actually believe no one stopped to assist, that’s the worst thing. I do hope your poor girlfriend is recovering okay and is getting over her ordeal. You need to get hold of the CCTV and of course, if there were lots of people about there will be witnesses. Any statements from tube staff too?

I’m sorry to hear about that mate, hope your girlfriend gets better soon. I can’t believe nobody helped her. You should be able to get the cctv, I’m not sure bout this but i think that any cctv that you are captured on you are legally allowed to request a copy of it.

Sorry to hear about this and I wish your lady well and a speedy recovery.

Unfortunately the sad fact is that nobody will. I teach self-defence and have done so for 10+ years and whether it is to a lady or gents I always try to instill in people that the public wont help, period.

People wont join in. Even if it was a copper being attacked people are more likely to kick the policeman than to help :frowning:

I really do hope you manage to find this stain on society and put right your issues with him. And yes you can take out a private suit against them if you find them

That is just awful. I hope your girlfriend makes a quick recovery, both from the physical injuries and from the shock.

I’m afraid I can only offer sympathy but the CCTV route seems perhaps the best one to go down. If you need someone to hold this b*stard while you kick him, PM me.

Morning, really sorry too hear this and I hope she recovers quickly! I take it it has been reported? If it hasnt then it needs to be so cctv can be seized, a description will be taken and circulated. If the little fckwit is a known face he will be seen and picked up. He can be charged with ABH or GBH (big boys in blue help me with this?) and attempted snatch.

I of course cant advokate catching him yourself, dragging him somewhere quiet and teaching him about life (as Im currently working) as he would probably have you arrested. If you got caught.

As to sueing him, I have no idea whether that will work out or not.

Sorry to hear about this mate, and sorry that maria had to go through that, good on her for standing up, these people are scum.

Sad fact is that the police are probably not going to find him, although he probably targets that area, so you might be able to get an ID on him take photos etc and he will undoubtably be known to the police. Only problem then is getting a charge, then a conviction, and then a punishment. All have increasing difficulties of success.

Didja hand the bag in for DNA and prints? And made sure they’ve put up a sandwich-board type witness appeal at the incident site? I got bottled saturday night - and the CID are only investigating because I found the assault weapon myself. The police were/are brilliant, but (in my area at least) waay too overstretched to be all over a case at once.

Oh my gawd…i only just see this kempo luvvie i hope maria is ok ?? i am well an truly shocked that anyone could do that to anyone especially maria as she is such a dot bless her, i truly hope you find the vicious punk who did this and give him a taste of his own medicine.:angry: before he does this to someone else.

Along with the increase in bike thefts it is a increasing sad reflection of society who will stand by and do nothing. Partly the fear of being stabbed or shot, which again is a reflection.

Good girl for fighting back though, and I hope the shock wears of quickly. If they do find the scum bag hope he falls down the stairs of the BT tower.

Sorry to hear about this, I hope she’s ok.

No one will help you anymore. People who normally would have got stuck in are now scared of retribution, either by the robbers, or by the law.

If caught - on the basis of what’s been said in the original post - then it sounds like an attempted robbery to me.

Don’t normally get prints from handbags, and they’ll only get DNA if there has been scratching and wounds caused to the suspect.

The CCTV will be checked in the area, and in the surrounding streets.

The incident will be investigated as robbery is a priority crime.

However I’m said to say that the chances of securing a conviction are quite small for any one individual robbery, unless they are caught at the time or nearby. However the number of people committing these robberies is quite small, he will get caught at some point… they just might not be able to convict him of this one.

First of all…I hope Maria recovers quickly.

Secondly, I think I must be in the minority, I’d have jumped in and kicked the crap out of the guy.

The problem is, as mentioned before, people are frightened of being stabbed, shot, or…as seems to be the usual way of things…being sued themselves by the barsteward scrote who did the attack/crime in the first place.

I don’t tend to think of those things and would jump in and rescue a victim. My philosophy is, if they’re daft enough to be there and commit a crime, then they deserve to be beaten by the victim and anyone else who jumps in to rescue them. That’d be my argument in Court even though I’d probably be sent down for it. If I was looking at paying a fine, I’d write a cheque out for the amount, lets say £200, and then hand the Judge another cheque for the same amount and punch the criminal in the face again! :smiley:

The Police will get the CCTV and try and ID him. You won’t see him until there’s a line up where Maria would ID him…then it’ll be Court before you make eye contact again.

I’m sorry to hear that I hope she is ok. To be honest that happens around here (croydon area). If she can discribe what he look like for example high the kind of bike. Then there is CCTV cameras and shops that might of seen something. He would get a charge if the police does get him. Most people are worried about there own lifes to actually say anything and there is a chance they could get him

Hey guys n gals,

Maria and i want to thank you all for the kind support youve shown.

She’s feeling a little better but still a little shacken. my birthday tomorrow and i have to wake up next to someone who looks like they’ve gone 12 rounds with tison…my poor babygirl. the face has come up a treat.

on a good note, the police contacted us today and they got the guy hanging around before the attack quite a few streets down. so its seems they’re doing more than i thought they would and expanding the search further than we thought.

a few more steps closer to getting his ID…time to get the van ready…lol :wink:

i went down yesterday looking and asking questions. tried to get some cctv but they said they gave them to the police.

it seems like our boys in blue are taking this quite seriously. we didnt think we’d get a call within a day so good job boys n gals. hope you find him before me
