Quadrophenia scoot sells for £36,000

Wow can you believe it sold for that much!!:w00t:

I’m not surprised, I love that film (although I would have preferred them to have edited out Ray Winstone’s private parts in the bath scene  ) and if I could afford it, I would have bought it, assuming of course it is indeed the genuine article.Somewhat disappointing though to hear they didn’t really ride it off the cliff at the end… or did they?..

i’m sure whoever bought it will treasure it, and that’s nice. shame the film was so dreadful, meandering and pointless.

Wasn’t Jimmy’s scooter that went off the cliff it was BellBoys/Face

Jimmy nicked it from outside the Grand Hotel

Thats right Jimmys one got driven over by the post office van! and it was a good film…still is lol:P

Certainly is, still watch it every 6 months or so

Quadrophenia was flawed as a film as Alistair has indicated :stuck_out_tongue: - however it did capture a sense of those elements which drove the 60’s youth culture (and subsequent movements like the skins, punks and new romantics) - e.g. what it’s like to be young - when the emotions are heightened and everything still has a bit of novelty, excitement and freshness e.g. discovering sex, being hugely passionate about music and clothes and wanting to belong to a tribe and stick two fingers up at everyone else. One of the great things about UK popular culture in the period from the 60’s up to the 80’s was it’s tremendous creativity and invention - brilliant bands and music - and totally original clothes and haircuts to go with the music - most of this style was invented by the youth of the day themselves. I can’t help wondering where it’s all gone - everything seems recycled from this brilliant past these days - or maybe i’m just past it! bah humbug etc! :stuck_out_tongue:

Quadrophenia was great, why dont you lot just watch the film for wot it is and stop wondering about all the technical crap?

soundtrack was brill too.

Yeah you’re right Buttonmonkey and Wasp, I was getting my scooters muddled up.

Good to see some scooter love on the forum :D;)

Can’t wait to see pics of all your new rides, when you finally see the light and go auto :D:D

(And it is a great film, and I can’t believe no one’s mentioned the fragrant Lesley Ash yet.)

I was more into Toyah than Lesley Ash

EUREKA!!! I think you might have found the defining thing that decides whether people are scooter riders or geared bike riders.

Fancying Toyah >>leads to>> geared bike, whereas fancying Lesley >>>leads to>> scooter.

If only I could get a few £k from a research fund to do a PhD into this (it would be money better spent than a lot of current research, imho :D)

Anorak time. But this time from the vintage scooter freak at work. (He also owns a couple of good bikes so not all daft)

Apparently 4 scooters (Li150’s) were used in the film. One destroyed during the filming, one went over the cliff, one is the scooter that has just changed hands and the fourth has become the Holy Grail.

It did exist…but where is it now?

Neasden?
