Pyranees - July/August 2011

Looking to catch a ferry to Bilbao and ride into the Pyranees and some coastal roads below Santander for approx 1 week.

Went last year and had an absolute blast, the roads are amazing and the weather is great, trip through France was boring, hence the ferry option for next year.

This is basically just trying to drum up some interest to see if anyone would like to join.

No set agenda yet, but this can be worked on if it would help peak your interest.

Our standard day normally involves riding hard then drinking harder.

Anyone is welcome, the more the merrier.

Am planning on doing exactly the same with 7 other friends end of May, begining of June. Any of advice where we should visit, or stay?

Can’t wait to get some euro miles in so trips like this are a must for me next year! Keep me posted please!!

Off hand, I can only think of 2 places we stayed (Oitz on the Spanish side - great hospitality and food & Montory on the French side - excellent food & service as well as a much needed pool!

We spend most of the time going over the top of the mountains, there are so many passes between France & Spain. Get a local map when you’re there and look for the twisties, you’ll come across some of the Tour de France roads.

Good luck

Sure, I’ll post more details when I pull my finger out. I know the ferry isn’t cheap, but if there’s 4 to a cabin, it brings the cost down.

Weather is normally good and the roads are great, so will look at getting a loose agenda together.

Of course this won’t be ridgid, and people are welcome to do their own rides and just meet up at the end of the day.

going 2 be doing southern pyrenees, andora, france poss monte carlo start of June

Hi

i think the Bilboa/Portsmouth crossing has ceased…i may be wrong

The big P&O one has - but one of the French companies still run that route (we think)

I think P&O run Portsmouth - Santander, very expensive.

Better riding down:) take you two days nice and steady no motorways. done it a couple of times, some fantastic roads too:cool:

Don’t dismiss putting the bikes on a trailer. Split the cost and the driving. Leave the 4x4 and trailer somewhere secluded in the middle of the mountains, and go play for a week.

How about doing this ? On and off road, have done this 3 times had a brilliant time !! Camping or a Hotel is available meet like minded people !

It only took us from Saturday morning to Monday afternoon to ride to the Italian Lakes on our hols - a scenic route:cool:

Definitely interested if it doesn’t clash with any other plans, ferry to Santander is cool for me.
