Pubs in Wembley

In case anyone doesn’t know this weekend is the FA Cup semi-final between Pompey & West Brom, I have a ticket along with some mates coming up from down south and I wondered if anyone has any recommendations for pubs in Wembley or around the stadium?

We will have a couple of kids with us so ideally somewhere that isn’t rammed with football hoolies would be good, oh and Pompey are in the East Stand so I’m guessing there will be a natural split of fans and pubs based on the two ends of the ground.

Any ideas from the North London contingent?

In the two occasions I’ve been lucky enough to see The Mighty Spurs win the FA cup we all met at The globe by Baker Street and then travelled direct to the ground by tube.

Would be nice to see Pompy pull it off:cool:

there is a very good one called the torch which is a 5 min walk from the stadium, they have benches outside to enjoy the sun and for a chance to smoke.

Pubs around Wembley remain thin on the ground and rammed.

Before and after the Carling Cup Final (reminder, the mighty Spurs 2, some small club in Fulham 1) we drank in the “Quality Hotel” on Empire Way. As you come out of the tube, don’t follow everyone through the underpass, take the steps up to the right onto the road and then bear left at the junction with the petrol station.

It was easy to get served even though the bar staff weren’t really on the pace - it seems they weren’t expecting thousands of thirsty footie fans - and there’s plenty of space. If it gets crowded in the bar you can spill out into the lobby and even outside onto the forecourt if it’s sunny.

Only downside for you is it’s on the west side of the stadium. The bars inside the stadium are pretty good now so that’s always an option as well.

Well I’ll be heading there on Sunday to watch my lot take on Barnsley in the other semi… Can’t wait!!!

Who knows, could be a Cardiff Pompey final!!!

You could be right although I think the met would rather it wasn’t as both clubs seem to have their ‘unruly’ element!

Cant wait Tim

It has been too long

Depends where-or how your getting to Wembley, ‘The torch’ is a good pub as Stacy said for Wembley Park Tube (closest to the grounds) left out of the tube station 150yds. If Wembley Central head right for ‘The Old Post Office’ or the ‘Weatherspoons’ next door both on the right-hand side 250yds(both do food & children friendly). If by British rail Wembley Station there’s ‘The Grey Hound’ or Mannions across the road (doesn’t do food). If coming by car parkings a big problem and making progress on the roads off the north Circular. The Ace cafe is just outside the clamping&towed away zone about a Mile and a Quarter from the grounds.

HOW VERY DARE YOU???!!!

We’re the BEST BEHAVE SUPPORTERS in the land………………………………………………….

…………………………when we win!

Hope you have a good day out – just listening to my boys against the Baggies in the league on t’internet… whilst dreaming about a playoff place and a possible 3 trips to Wembley after 81 years since the last time! (when we beat the Arse 1-0 to win the cup on St Georges day (you gotta love the irony) 1927… I think we’re due a trip!)

Thanks for the suggestions guys, we’ll be on the train, I’m meeting everyone at Waterloo, I think the plan is then to get to Marleybone and then overland to Wembley Stadium, few beers and a bite to eat before the game, then pack the family crowd of home while the rest of us go out on the town, I’m sure we’ll be able to hold back on the major drinking until after the game when we celebrate!!

Meeting a mate in The Ship in Wardour St on Saturday night, no idea what its like?

The Ship, Wardour St? Now that is a pub. Probably my favouritest pub in all of London.

It has history (bands used to sup there before going on stage at the Marquee which is now the Floridita restaurant a few doors down), it has great music (provided you like ROCK!), it has cool staff and most of all it has a NASA - nice and safe attitude! Everyone in there just seems to get along and tolerate each other whether they’re post-work suits, tourists, local bar / restaurant workers, pre-clubbers or suburbanites up for a night in the smoke.

And the beer ain’t too shabby either. Hmmm, want a pint now. Shame it’s only 7:30 :hehe:

Terry tells me it’s his favourite gay pub:D

Well your boys took care of their task today - you must be well chuffed! Just need my lot to manage the same and then see ya in Wembley in May…!!!

well done both pompeytim and blubhoy for your teams.

should be an interesting final for the neutral…

Cheers fella, it wasn’t the prettiest of games but we got the result which is what counts, spent the rest of the day celebrating!

My hangover eventually subsided whilst watching the WSBK races today, which is when I saw the shots of Brands and couldn’t believe that much snow had fallen such a short distance away, Greenwich was white but not THAT white!! :w00t:

Fingers crossed I can get a ticket for the final, I’ve got a mate on it so hopefully it’ll come good, although I’ll have to retract my acceptance f attending a 40th birthday down south as I’m not going to pass up the chance of attending an FA Cup Final!!

Congrats BluBhouy, it was a good goal but not one you’ll get the opportunity for against us next month!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Ha-Ha!!! Nice1 fella! We’ll be too busy creating chances for you to have time to count 'em all!!!;):stuck_out_tongue:

As for pubs - arranged to meet some mates at the (Low) Quality Hotel - very Alan Partridge if ya get my drift… but the party was happening just up the road and so we headed to a bar there and had a much better time with the singing and full-on atmosphere - it was packed with Cardiff but they managed to keep the numbers so that it was standing room throughout but able to get to the bar easily enough… then decided to join with the masses on the street outside and a few cans from the offie fuelled us til we reached the stadium…

Great day and looking forward to the final!!!:w00t:

Cheers!!!
