Yesterday, due to the rain, I decided to wimp out by taking public transport to work for the first time in about a year I got on the Tube. OMFG, does everyone turn demented when they get on? Idiots pushing into spaces that don’t exist, people standing right in front of the doors, refusing to move when you try to get off, fools trying to read broadsheets. By the time I got to work I was a bit stressed out. What I need is a taser or something, keep them on their toes… I don’t even get lucky by standing next to some of the sweet smelling office chicks on their way to work, no I always seem to end up stuck between a couple of fat sweaty foreign blokes clinging to the handrail with their armpits just at face level. F*****g marvelous.
Feel for me then, I have to do the Harrow to Paddington run every day of the week!!! Tried coming in on the bike but helmet hair for a girly is not a good look and the A40 if far too much for me early in the morning!!
It is always a bit of a shock the first time getting on the tube after a prolonged period of freedom. Few commutes and you’ll be all elbows and knees, defensive commuter incarnate. Just a little ring rust.
you need a cattle prod:D or like me wear ya ghetto rags!:D, get on the tube… hat down low… look moody as lordy!.. and no sod bothers ya… or come near ya…works well;)
dude dude had the same problem but google helps as always
“” Public transport, public transportation, public transit or mass transit comprise all transport systems that transport members of the general public, usually charging set fares. While the above terms are generally taken to include rail and bus services, wider definitions might include scheduled airline services, ferries, taxicab services etc. A further restriction that is sometimes applied is that transit should occur in continuously shared vehicles, which would exclude taxis that are not shared-ride taxis. “”
Public transport is mad ! Shared mass transport!!?? :w00t::w00t::w00t:
I use public transport everyday and I’m neither homeless or a drug addict, but probably do fit into the riff-raff category! Generally I find it OK, it’s all about the time’s you travel, if you commute during rush hour it’s a frigging nightmare but just before or just after is fine, luckily I don’t have to be in until 10.00am so I generally miss the worst.
Shando - you couldn’t have picked a worse day to use public transport dude, trains canceled due to break downs, engineering works everywhere and all topped off by signal failures. I had to walk from Waterloo subsequently arriving at the office like a drowned rat 40mins late! To be fair though this was the first time its been that bad in the last year, and there’s only been about 3 days when the delays have been what you could call major.
Generally I don’t have a problem with it and the eye candy on the way in has a habit of making up for the down sides.
Don’t you find that getting on after rush hour is worse, all those tourist off out sight seeing in London who don’t have a clue how to use the tube network!!
Nah, I work in Westminster so I’m used to them, with my headphones in I end up walking like I ride, go for the gap and anticipate what people are about to do, although I do frighten the life out of some of them on the escalator when they stand on the wrong side!
Westminster is always full of tourists most of the year so I’ve probably appeared in loads of people’s holiday snaps as a result!
