The Dog and Partridge
North Stifford Village
Grays Essex.
Fantastic Grub, Large (Visible from Pub) Car Park and a place called Davy Down close by for a little rural walk. Trees, Ponds and the Mardyke River, Great for Picnics and stuff like that.
The Fish and Eels is at Dobbs Weir which is just outside the M25 and off the A10 - sits by the Weir which is very nice in the summer to walk round. The pub used to be very good but have not visited for a couple of years.![]()
There is also a couple of very nice pubs along the crooked mile - on the section just north of Bumbles Green towards Harlow…cannot remember the names but one is just off the roundabout at Bumbles Green and the other is a bit further along the road - both of which I have eaten in and can recommend
. Bumbles Green is just up from Nazing in Herts - 15/20 mins off the A10 at Hoddesdon!! No river though, sorry.
Any pub is good if they have cast ales.
Coach and Horses at Newgate Street Village is very biker friendly, does superb home made food but no river.
The Kick & Dicky on A120 between Puckerage and Much Hadam is nice too.
Sow and Pigs at Wades Mill (Old A10) does superb grub
