I will be joining them on this ride from Calais at 11:15 and coming back at 17:00. It will be only 125 miles from Calais up to the European Parliment.
Sorry for the last minute decision but I was engaged on something else that failed to go ahead so, I can’t miss this one. Once you fancy the ride, call P&O on the number stated in the news post and get your ticket booked! I have actually bought mine one only this morning and paid for it £15 quid! Even cheaper than MCN is advertising, but they have just a few more availible. Hurry and join me
Cezar, good luck Saturday mate. I was planning on going but I just cant now, gutted as it would have been a good day.
I think the protest is a brilliant idea, and they need to be made aware that there is such a strong feeling. I really hope they listen and reconsider their plans. Under those proposals I dont necessarily think the bike industry will die off, but many will lose out and whats left will no doubt become even more exepnsive especially in the UK.
Just the news item on this, can’t say I totally agree with LB’s comments but its a far more sensible idea than the EU’s which is leaning towards banning motorcycles full stop.
“In LB’s opinion, a much smarter and more practical approach would be to let 14 year olds ride a moped, 16 year olds ride 125cc bikes”
I’m fed up with seeing oiks riding up and down streets near me on scooters, wearing t-shirts and a helmet perched on top of their head. I’m interested in banning them, extra training I think is needed, but please what does a 14yr old know about road craft??? I wouldnt let any kid of mine (if I had one ) at 14 ride round the roads in London.
It’s up to us to change the way society develops new bikers. In most other countries, kids can ride at a young age and don’t cause the trouble they do here. In my opinion, this government is more interested in kerbing the result of society’s wrongs, than looking at solving the cause of the problem.
Jay, its a fair comment and you’re right in terms that it seems to be this country that has the issue with youngsters on scoots. I spend a lot of time in Spain and its never an issue there, infact its a way of life.
I 100% agree with “this government is more interested in kerbing the result of society’s wrongs, than looking at solving the cause of the problem” though.
Instead of solving it, or improving it, or training people for it they’d rather just ban it and hope it goes away. ‘IT’ covers a lot not just this is subject.
No offence was meant. Its a subject that could go on forever, I just wish I heard more about bad drivers instead ‘bloody bikers’ all the time
Savoury! You are more than right on that mate! That’s why us at LB are preparing a social project to educate and trainning young people on bikes. It’s a really a hard time of our lives to be 14, let alone being discriminated on the thing we most love, BIKES.
I personally would like to do something for the bike community. I love bikes, I love to ride it and wouldn’t be happy if anyone try to take this right away from me, that’s why I will be going to the Law protest ride. Not becouse of me, but for all those kids out there that drop they jaws when see our bikes and hear the sound of our exhausts.
LB will come up wih a really ambitious project very soon that will work together with other institutions, clubs and members to, instead to push this kids away, we will bring them to us. Show them how proud we are to be bikers! Why do we help each other? Why do we nod to each other? better riding skills, how to mod a bike, take them on a trackday trip, visit the padock, toutch a race bike…
If someone gave this oportunity when i was a young boy on my scooter, I would grab it so hard that you would need a spanner to take me away. It’s up to us to change the society we live in, we all were 14/15 before and loved bikes, or not? We all started riding after become a ‘man’?
Moral, Ethics, riding Skills and the feeling of belonging to a united community is what we aim to provide for those kids and anyone that want to ride with us the European roads and why not to say the worldwide? Never mind the age, experience, colour, bike, believes and all that etc we are tired to know…
"Please join us on that! " - gladly mate, I will give as much time as I can for a worthy project and already do so. THAT’s the bit the Government are lacking on.
Take a friend of mine, he’s had his funding cut for a Youth Crime Prevention program because they aren’t seeing results!! Its a ‘prevention’ program, there aren’t meant to be results, the idea is in 5, 10, 15, 20 years time this kids aren’t offenders!! The council/government feel they are pouring money down the drain, but have only run the program for 3 years
As soon as LB have plans, or need help with plans let me know.
Nice one! Savoury! We will be posting here from next week the first ideas and actions. all help will be needed. that’s all about! That’s the spirit! If they don’t do or need help doing? We will get together and do something!
Sadly I’ll be at a poxy wedding on Saturday so can’t join you, but I’ll be thinking about the trip and bikes and port-addled MPs messin’ with my hobby.
Stick it to’em mate.
And on the subject of helping people get into bikes, I’ll help in anyway I can (so not mechanical stuff then LOL). Can’t wait to see what you guys have in mind.
Well said mate, reading what you said made me think, however I din’t know what the Brussels ride is protesting about, I’ve been to Brussells and theres always people there protesting about something or other. It seems to be a town where you go to protest and party!
