Morning all.
Just joined the site and looking for advice. A few years ago Queenie decided to relieve me of my license, only 12 months to go now. and i am looking to start a project but i am struggling to find breakers/ salvage yards in London. I am desperate to find a donor bike and i would be interested to know which bike you guys feel would be the best donor. Also any unfinished projects would be of interest.
Many thanks
Hello Stu,
I think you’ll be hard pushed to find anywhere in London with a good stock. But saying that - All bike spares in Greenwich usually have some good stuff. My previous build was pretty much made up from ebay.
Your skills ability should determine what kind of build you take on, bandits are like lego and fairly cheap to get hold of. But you don’t see a lot of fazer/hornet fighters. But if cash is a problem, cheapest is usually best. You could try http://www.rsmotorcycles.co.uk/ they are pretty cheap and deliver.
Hope this helps
Cheers mate
Have been looking on ebay and seems superb for bits, but not many bargain bikes. I used to live in the midlands and it seemed like there was a breakers yard round every corner.
Next week i am going to pop down to Greenwich and have a nose.
Knowing me i will come back with something and have a row with the missus.
Thanks for your help, much appreciated.
Cheers
if you’ve a year to spend then id buy a steel frame to start like a GS1000 or a Z frame. as its steele its easy to work with and evry one knows how to weld. then the rest is simple, cheap oil cooled motor and front and rear ends from whatever takes ya fancy and all can be bought from the bay
Oops, started looking at the Z’s & GS. Came across a TL 1000 street fighter and bought it. Missus had a little moan but it was worth it. The bike needs a little TLC and i dare say i will be a regular on here now, begging for help. Again thanks for the advice and help.
Hopefully see you at a meet.
Ive got a tl awesome bikes:D
A TL would be an awesome bike to fighter, not seen many done, and always thought they had bags of potential Make sure you post up some pics, I’d be interested to see the work in progress.
