Project Bros 400

You can get an r6 for not much money too, I’ve always wanted a sports bike

Yeah but R6’s can be very fickle for reliability, 2003 era had a risk of cracking barrels for example. If you want something racier then early 2000’s fireblade’s are pretty cheap still? Or buy my blackbird if you like, that’s a sports bike (technically!)

SV650 is a great track bike - well proven!
TBH though, it’s never about the bike, it’s about the rider. I’ve had very hard times trying to pass people on ancient Ducati monsters this year and they won’t have much more power if at all than the bros. He was just a better rider than me and I had to work hard to use the V2’s power and brakes to pass!

i want a bike I can not be sad if i throw it into a gravel trap, the bros showed how much better it is when im not worried about the bike.

Ive wanted a sports bike since my CBT but never actually got one. Im not sure what id get, but part of the wanting is an actual sports bike, no a another SV (even though it is the sensible option).

I’ve heard about the cracked liners though, going to wait until there’s space and money and see whats out there

2004 and onwards GSX-R 750 would be my choice for a less expensive track bike

Or a Triumph Daytona 675

Both of those seem to start at £4k, which is too much for me

True dat! I’ve heard it said that in F1, 80% of the success is down to the car. Yet in MotoGP, 80% of winning is down to the rider.

I remember being at Parc Moto in 2016 or 2017 on my ZX-10R. I was on a nice right hander, feeling that I was improving as I had the toy leant over quite far, well for me anyway. Then Gary Hartshorne (from Bridgestone Tyres) went passed me, on the outside, on a CB500. I’m not saying I’m a good track rider at all, only 3 stars at best, but Gary’s bike had a standard engine and a good suspension set up. Gary is a fantastic rider, yet my bike was far better than his. Guess I suck when it come to going quick on the bends.

Stop encouraging him

Firestorm?

Ive a hankering for an inline 4 (or 3) again.

CBR600f4i going for not loads, and the F3 can be >£1000

Hello - can I ask where you got the plastics from ? I’m looking for rear cowl and would be good to find out who did it for you - thanks John
