Project bandit

As you all know I’m back on two wheels and this is she…

1997 gsf600 w

She was faired and very unloved.
This is what she looked like when the last owner got her.

He then done a few bits and pieces,
And she looked like this

Then I got her…
Gave her a wash and started using her,

Then the problems started…
Rear shock dropped oil all over my garden on the 3rd day

On the 4th day I was cut up, locked my back wheel up and 100yards later, she stalled! Got her running. Rode home, next day she wouldn’t start.

I mentioned to BIG D what I was intending to do to her and the following day he contacted me with a list of parts at a great price!

I then bought another bandit (as a quick project) to use as a run around and started to work on this one.
Swapped the seats and proceeded to take the swing arm off and tone it down a bit.

Stripping the paint

Old shock off

Hagen shock on…

Here come the wavy front discs and the belly pan,

I did fit a tail tidy/undertray too, but didn’t get pics…

Carbs out ready to give them a blast and a good clean!

I did get very disappointed at this…

I can’t remove the baffle!
How crap,

So I put this on the run around bandit and my lovely better half bought me a lovely new can…

Did it come with the ashtray
On the tank

New can on, bike working and all the mods (so far) on.

Remaining list:

Respray the bike, (black and white, just trying to decided which bits to do which colour)
Return to a black seat
New tries
Tidy up wiring and get RHS insert panel on neatly
Rear waves disc
Neater mirrors
Service
New headlight bracket
And whatever else I think of…

It’s a magnetic tray…
