Wish I had seen this thread earlier, or you had contacted me, I thought this was a mechanical issues thread looking for advice so had not previously read it.

Rejecting the vehicle would have been easier at the start, as would doing so without incurring the cost of a solicitor. With a £10,000 limit this will be a small claims case and costs for legal representation cannot be claimed.

It is also a rather simple claim that would have allowed your friend to reject the bike instantly and get his money back.

I know you already do an irrational amount of work on here, as well as keeping pace with your own stuff. Didn’t seem fair to ask you to help a random.

Informed by whom? If they have an issue with a forum post, the correct course of action would be to use the “contact us” link at the bottom of the site to email the site owner, or the “report” button next to one of your posts to let a moderator know.

Alternatively they are more than welcome to register a forum account and respond to the thread.

(Note that I post this in an informational capacity - my “Administrator” role is technical only).

I would reject it as not “fit for purpose” they will also have the right to correct issues but only allow it once

be very carful about fiddling with it that could bite very hard !

responding to their bad reviews is probably a full time job for some poor f*****

This information is being relayed to me by the disgruntled owner as the saga develops.

And you’re quite right mate, if they feel they have been slurred unfairly, or that any of the information is inaccurate, then they can of course register and defend their case.
I would welcome it. I told the guy that if the motorbike warehouse or AJS want an amicable, productive chat about the issues I’ve highlighted, Id be more than happy to do that with them. I’m not an antagonist, quite simply

a) I would like to see the guy to get what he paid for
b) Ensure that in future these bikes are released to the public in a condition that isn’t likely to kill them.

Hi y’all.

Interesting thread but I will make a few serious observations:

a) the OP has stuck pretty close to just facts and opinions voiced appear to be taken from those stated facts, which is fine. However this is not the OP’s experience directly instead it is something which happened to a friend. Which in my book makes it hearsay, or something near it no matter how well informed or well intentioned this is.

b) I can’t see any way in which AJS would partake in this forum and thus have to argue their point with every sticky beak online. What’ll probably happen is that I’ll get an email from their solicitors to deal with.

c) Scorch, I would strongly advise that your neighbour talks to professional legal advice. Not Kaos, and this isn’t personal at all, it is because he isn’t (as far as I know) a fully qualified practicing solicitor. He is not this website’s legal representative, council or advisor.

I’m going to lock this thread for now, because this situation will only be settled now by legal means I think, and everyone banging on about how poor they believe the situation to be without actually being part of the situation, is only going to make matters worse.

Scorch, by all means PM me with updates and ideally a resolution and I’ll update the thread as needs be.

So we have an update, and perhaps the final one.

The bike’s forks have been repaired satisfactorily however at the cost of scratches on the yoke so the poor lad has decided to live with bike as is. It’s done a 100 mile run without soiling itself so it’s probably as good as it’s gonna get.

A sorry tale indeed.
