i was gone to finchley road and parked on the side road…just wanted to let the office know where I parked he told me check the notice on the window. These fcckers even clamp bikes. The charge is £300.150 to release and 150 for call out… I went back to my bike and he was just about going to get out of his shiity van…anyway he had clamped another chaps work van and he tried to drive away then the police got called etc etc now he was trying to beg 300 from his friends. It was a friday so not a good start for the weekend.:w00t:
These fukkers are a law unto themselves, a lot of bad press around Citywatch which operate in East London. Never been done myself but have heard a lot of horrow stories.
Wasn’t there something on TV a while back where they clamped a police car or something ?!??!
Easyrider, park up in Greenford by the KFC… see how long and how much you get charged clamping fees
I know cos my son got done on his ped about 4 years ago!
There r cameras there now so I will be done for illegal parking by ealing council…
I wouldnt pay them f*ck all - I’d borrow my mates Stihl grinder and cut the thing off and leave it on the pavement.
Criminal Damage
This country is the way it is because people just accept things like this, if 1 ever appears on my car I’ll be cutting it off - even if it is criminal damage but I dont really drive my car much so chances of me getting clamped are slim.
few yrs ago i had a job in harrow on the hill. was in there 10 mins, when they told me i better run dwn as clampers were out. id parked in a space i thought was ok, but i didnt see a 100mm square sign on the wall opposite saying about clamping without permits. like you found out, was 300 quid to take the clamp of…
I too would go for the option of cutting of off if I could get my hands on the tools.
let the tyre down then cant you slip em off if it’s the chain type??
I guess I got lucky with only a £100 release fee and no call out charge, if you can call it lucky.
what kind of clamps do they use on bike?? can’t you just remove your wheel and take it off? or simply get someone in a van to come around and pick the bike up? if they clamp your bike and you take your bike at home by any means surely what can they do about it…
he stole our clamp…
no I didn’t, they gave it to me as a gift:D
even better you can tell them to come around and pick the clamp up but it will cost them £400 to get inside yoru garage:P
that’s probably classes as theft.
IIRC, if you remove the clamp without damaging it then they can’t hold you to anything
There;'s some useful (though dull) info on this site about private clampers. Usually they’re operating outside of the law themselves
Clampos:

Not if you out it back when you have removed it. For theft there has to be an intent to deprive them of the item.
I got clamped a few years ago I was talking on the phone while buying a ticket stood there for maybe 3-5 mins before going back to my car, some muppet clamped it I was 10 feet away, he tried to make me pay £250 to release it or they would tow it and that would cost a further £200 plus £120 a day storage.
After going nuts and calling the police and going over the cctv of the car park showing me buying the ticket before being clamped and him watching me while I was on the phone buying the ticket almost crawling to my car so I could not see him, he unclamped it.
I know a guy who runs a firm and he leaves a car with no tickets/permits in the window as a decoy to make people think its ok, they are barstewards, they also have to be showing there SIA badge too if not its hooky and you should be able to get out of it, as long as you have video proof.
Would it be ok to leave unwanted cars in these clamping zones so the clampers were left with them to dispose of? Imagine if lots of people did this
I got stung to the tune of £600 at the tile shop next to the Ace Cafe a few years back and the car was only there 20 minutes or so.
Organised crime operated by illiterate thugs. . .
+1
If they can make it illegal up in Scotland without any problem, then why not the rest of the country?
Coincidentally the AA are having a pop about it today as well:
If you grind it off don’t they have to prove that they put it on your car and that you took it off?
I would say sorry I have no idea what you on about, I just came to my care and drove off… didn’t see any clamps.
But I wouldn’t leave it there, I would take it with me… after all they just attached an item to MY CARE, so now their item is part of MY car and therefore it is mine… they gave it away for free as a present right?
I would assume it would be quite hard for them to prove you took it off.
Maybe I should buy a Polish, Romanian or foreign car in London drive it about get it clamped and keep grinding the clamps off and leaving them there. What can they possibly do? Nothing, they couldn’t even get hold of your details since the DVLA doesn’t have them:)
