I took out a fully comp policy for my ER6 on September 1 and opted for monthly payments because I’ve been trying to sell the bike.
I read all the small print beforehand so I knew I’d be liable for a £55 cancellation fee and probably more, depending on the point in the month when I cancelled.
I rang yesterday to cancel and had my debit card in front of me, ready to pay whatever they threw at me, and the lad said: “Because you’ve only been on cover for just over a month and we’ve taken the first monthly payment today (£23), we’ll call it quits.”
I asked if he was waiving the cancellation fee and he said yes.
When I asked why, he answered: “I’m in a good mood this morning.”
So - it just goes to show these fees really are a cash cow.
