Power Commander fitted to Buck's bike (at my place)

It was easy, I just supplied the tools, my laptop, the map, and made teas, while Mick was loosing a bolt a minute… at one point he had to have the mudguard off and the front screen off to look for a screw that fell int the fork portectors, it was fun… bit cold still here are some shots

Dat be a verrry nice bike ya got dare matey.

What effect has the PC made to it??

'parently makes him fart proper now…

Paaarrrrppppp, thats not true …ok it is its seems to run a bit smoother and the popping from the exhaust is not so bad now,but i have only do a few miles since it was done so i cant judge the improvments just yet,let you know when ive put a bit more mileage on it.

Hehehe, I know all about losing nuts and bolts! I have a big box of spare ones just in case

Buck there is something wrong with your map… The difference you feel is immediate as soon as you pull off you notice it… My recomondation is to get a map for your bike not someone elses…

Yes Lady P you are indeed right, there can be no replacements to a custom map, however Buck had other financial commitments at the time he fitted his PCIII, which is the reason he asked me to borrow my map, as he is saving to have his bike dyno’ed properly.

But to him my map was the closest one to be used since we have same cans / filter / and other similar mods, he just had to make do with what was apparently similar to what he’s got. The good news is that he’s just booked his bike for a dyno last thursday, so hopefully he will have his PCIII well sorted soon

I gotta say Uncle, it does look the Mutts Testes. Almost makes me want one! As well as the Ard 1 of course. They’re all absolutelty right you will REALLY notice the difference when they Dyno it. I don’t actually know why they bother with having the CD with all the maps on it, I’ve never known anyone have any luck with the bog standard ones!

I only hope my lady doesnt realise the piggy bank is missing when i have to cough up for the dyno run,i have just put a set of hagon springs in the front and some stainless engine bolts on,next thing is the tank decals will come off,one thing that has crossed my mind is do you have to notify the insurance company of the power commander and dyno set ups ???

No i don’t think you have to inform the insurance, cause it doesn’t count as a modification such as chassis or engine size. At least everyone i know who has a pcIII hasn’t

laters Micko!

Personally I would inform the insurance company rather than not then that is another get out blocked for them. You could just ring your company and ask “if i fit powercommander/cans/gay spikes on my mudguard will it affect my premium”?

My Insurance is backed by one of the largest bike underwriters in the UK [sorry, the name escapes me] and I know for a fact [cos i asked] they dont allow powercommanders - as in wont insure bikes with them fitted. Silly really as the things do more for smoothing power than adding it, surely helping safer riding in the wet.

You will be impressed with the difference Buck when it has been dyno’d, you will be like a man on a mission. I havent informed my insurance company of any of my mods but, to be honest if it doesnt make a difference to the overall power then there shouldnt be a premium to pay on this. I am going to inform my insurance company though as you know what they are like any loop hole they can get out of they will. I believe johnny has declared all his mods and it hasnt affected the premium at all…

If it has really made no difference are you sure it’s fitted correctly…? The only thing I can think of is that the wrong wire has been picked up from the throttle position sensor.

I recall from Fitting CaptMofo’s PCIII that it is the middle wire on the XT660 TPS that is connected via a scotchlok spade type connector… is this connected and is it to the right wire on the TPS…? At the end of the instruction sheet I’m sure there were instructions on observing the LED’s on the unit… do these appear correct as per the instructions?

Im sure it is,i followed the instructions implicitley. Its all booked up for a Dyno set up at HM RACING in a couple of weeks,so i have to wait for some mid range oomph and sort out the low speed surging, cant wait.

It will be worth the wait buck…

I have just phoned my insurance company and told them about my numerous modifications and they are not changing the premium at all. The only thing they did stress was if the bike was in an accident (touch wood it wont) they wont cover the aftermarket stuff they will just replace it as standard. In otherwords my handlebars, pc3, stage one and two filters and exhausts wont be covered…

The stupid thing is that they say that the would replace with originals… however aftermarket cans are generally cheaper than OEM ones to replace!!!

Hey biggus if she goes down the road on her side do you want to phone my insurance company for me and explain that then…Would be great if you could sort that out for me…Thanks in advance of any hic cup I may have have…

So Buck, my ol’ china, what’s with this " It`s a london thing "explain please. do you mean the the power commander is a london thing?
