power chip .has any body tried one of these

talking to my sons boss knows nothing about bikes but has an srad 600 and said it was super chipped went on ebay to find what he was on about and it must be one of these

+15BHP Power Mod/Chip Suzuki GSR GSXR 400 600 750 1000

just wondering if they are worth trying or if any one else has tried one?

a friend of mine uses somthing very similar on his ZX10 and he swear’s by it

it made a huge differance on the dyno at the ace

ok thanks i did buy one so ill try it at the next trackday

thanks for your answer ill report back once ive tried it out on the 31st

they change your air/fuel ratio etc, basic setup is altered, usually work well on standard bikes but if you have changed filters/headers etc then better to get it set up properly

Wasn’t the 600 SRAD carbed?

If so someone is on drugs;)

missed the srad comment! :w00t:, how the hell can a ‘super’ chip work then :hehe:

If 15bhp was so easily obtainable, why do people spend hundreds on PCIII’s etc?

A lot of these cheap chips just trick the ECU into thinking the engines cold still etc but on SRAD they will do nothing.

I wouldnt waste the money or the time fitting one.

this is what i didnt understand and all 600 srads are carbed mines a fuel injection 750 and the packet does say it just tricks the engine to thinking its cold and and also says the 15+bhp is the name of it not a claimed increase in power as i also said the bloke that owns the 600 srad doesnt know anything about bikes so i was curiuos as to how it could of been chipped but i think the seller saw him comming and told him a load of crap really but im still going to try it on mine its only two wires if theres no difference ill take it off again but maybe as i only uses mine for 20 mins at a time round the track it might make a difference ? or maybe it will damage the ecu? oooh now im wondering if ill bother:ermm:

I’d rather put money into sorting quality suspension and brakes mate.

Who would think that Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki and the others, after spending £millions on development and testing at custom built factories, tracks & institutions, could have their work reliably improved with a £10 plug-in, a few cheap tools and in a rickety old garden shed??

I’m sure your pride and joy is worth more respect, mine sure is:Whistling:

That exactly my opinion! Common sense…

Saw this guy selling a product called Active8 at a trade show which promised to dramatically reduce engine wear and improve efficiancy. Rather than question the product its easy to just use common sense… "So your telling me your product is going to improve the oil ive bought from a major manafacturer who spend thousands each year to better their product and beat competators!!!) hahaha dickhead! :D:D:D

Will be interested to hear what results you get from your chip if you use it? but if it were me I would stay clear of it! Tricking the ECU into thinking the engine is cold is bound to increase engine wear as the fuel air mix is run will be run leaner???

As it’s a carbed bike it will have no impact on the mixture. All it might do is alter the timing, much the same as a TRE

ahhrrr right yeah didnt read that far  yeah as he said! carbed bike + no good mate :stuck_out_tongue:

Personally I wouldn’t risk using this on your bike as it is not going to be anything other than a cheap resistor that tweaks the fueling by fooling the ecu into thinking the bike is cold - bit like leaving the choke on. Superchips are a well respected car tuner who made their name many years ago increasing the power outputs on turbo’d cars - like of the Escort RS Turbo’s/Renault5 Turbos/Sierra Cosworths etc. On a simple level this was by re-programming the ECU but then progressed to actualy replacing the “chip” in the ecu with one that has a custom map - hence the practice is know as chipping! They offer “generic model” maps which do not need to be customised and will suit a standard car, no different to a Power Commander map. Loads of companies out there that do the same, last few years diesel cars have been increadibly popular to chip - VW Golf TDi’s can see increases in power of 30-40% easily for the cost of £400ish!! I doubt that the chip you have has an real research other than how to over fuel the bike, really needs to be based on variables such as throttle position, air/fuel mixtures and a multiude of others. As mentioned this will definately cause you issues with higher wear as well as probably emmissions failure at MOT. Get a PC is my advice as it is the best way to tune your bike in this way.

Which part of “This bike has carbs” don’t you understand?;)

if you get one you’re welcome to a free before and after run on our dyno to check it out!!!

Cheap resistor = pretends to be colder air = more fuel than needed = bore wash = sad face.

didnt bother trying it just incase it wrecked the engine , but do i still qaulifie for a free dyno run :D:D

go on then, give us a ring 02077298500 tomorrow (weds) and we’ll see when we can fit you in !
