Oh yeah…I forgot I will be dealing with the arse end of the council…
seriously, it highly depends on which council your fighting against. some of them are surprisingly efficient, some others are not surprisingly really sh*t.
give it a go anyway, its always good to poke them you may be lucky. give you a heads up, i know for a fact ealing council is one of the shiiiittiest one in these matters.
It isn’t a Lambeth Road it is TFL. The problems on Clapham Common Southside are in the areas where TFL have put down blue paint for the cycle lanes. This was breaking up already in places, but the frost has lifted whole sections of road now. TFL are usually pretty good in my experience when road problems are reported to them through Fixmystreet.
BTW, TFL used to have a good fault reporting system on their website, but it has disappeared. I have written to them asking where it is as the link to it on their website is broken.

I’m In wanno… I will have a go and see what happens… Never know they might be generous and give me about £700 the price for a couple of fairings. Fingers crossed!
Someone posted up recently regarding reporting potholes and using “fixmystreet”.
Tried to use it earlier via my andriod and its a God awful site to navigate. Not to mention the fact that you have to know the postcode and house number.
Gave up and emailed Lewisham highways direct.
Section of road in question is the top of Deptford church st as you approach Creek rd. The bus lane section is possible the worse I’ve ever seen.
I did see it has been previously reported on that site though but hasn’t been acted on.
Received an email in reply from Lewisham council saying it would be investigated (4 hours later)
Seems emailing the council is potentially the way to go.
???
Fixmystreet works perfectly when opened in Chrome on both my Android devices. Type in postcode or place and get a fully zoomable and dragable map.
If they need a full postcode I usually look on Google Streetview for a nearby business and then use Google to find the business’ postcode. Anything that helps them find it and fix it quicker
Can someone do me a favour and find the “fix my country” site for the roads in Nigeria :w00t:
btw - You’re all spoiled…potholes aren’t proper potholes unless the 4x4 in front goes out of sight before popping up again - now that’s a proper pothole
The website works with place names, no postcode needed.
I have been reportong on Avenue road from Swiss Cottage down to Regents park for about a year now … directly to coucil by email and phone and also fix my street. Problem is there are deep ruts down the middle of the road that are dangerous on the motorbike and almost lethal on the bicycle.
Problem is the boundary between Camden and Westminster runs right down the middle of the road…result they both say each other is responsible!
i use the a406 for my commute
the road is atrocious with long crevices in-between the lanes at many junctions and roundabout approaches making filtering risky
I went along the A13 in my car the other weekend & I salute every biker who has to use it
there’s me thinking the A12 was **** but alas ive been mistaken not only is the A13 riddled with potholes but god it suffers from standing water badly the light on the cars dash was forever lighting up with lost traction & I wasn’t toeing it
& just when you thought thing couldn’t get worse ECC has decided to turn off the lighting to save money
ill be using my fiesta when the roads get too icy
no traction control on it
How do councils prioritise potholes? One in Brent was on a bus route and very nasty, it took several months of posting on the council site and fixmystreet before it was fixed.
The other is on my very quiet side road that just joins two other side roads was fixed in days of it appearing.
Does anyone know?
One way of getting a pothole repaired quickly is to tell the council you’ve seen someone go straight over the handlebars of their bicycle and face-plant the tarmac, and that you’ve given your name as a witness in case they decide to pursue legal action.
Cheeky I know, but being a responsible citizen, of course you want to inform the council asap in case any further incidents occur which may cost them large

Me: Hello Brent Council, I want to report a pot hole in my road
B.C: (Take details) Have you got a pen, we’ll give you a reference number
Me: I don’t want a reference number, I just want someone with a bucket of tarmac to fill the hole up
B.C: We’ll report it to the appropriate person
Result: Came home later that day to find a fresh patch of tarmac where the pot hole had been. ![]()
Ah, so as I thought the technology is too much for them, will have to dig out the carrier pigeon.

You might need to - we called them again today about a streetcleaning issue. Apparently they have a spreadsheet but can’t understand it so they’re sending a man out to have a look:D
