My team is Ferrari (I’ve alwasy preferred following the constructors championships as opposed to the drivers)- always have supported them since I was a wee nipper, but thats probably got more to do with the fact that I was born down the road from the Ferrari factory in Italy!!! However, I think Lewis Hamilton is brilliant and the best thing that has ever happened to the sport so I wish him very good luck.
Anyway, this is probably the wrong site to admit that I like sport on 4 wheels as well as 2 but I was wondering if anyone else was passionate about the sport and where’s the best place to enjoy it - I dont mean which track - but which venue like pubs, clubs etc etc.
Away with you evil beasty…swearing on a bike forum !!! about (F *) cant say the nasty word, you should be birched all the way round the ace carpark till you admit the error of your ways and repent, go and hang your head in shame
I know what you mean - i nearly did too! - but last year was great, honestly, it was tight all the way. The scandals made it even better! This year I cant wait to see Hamilton kicks Alonso’s arse.
You got to admit though, getting rid of traction control, launch control, and “I’m a sissy drive the car for me” control is a good way to go… I’d like to see that back in MotoGp…its all very well saying that its progress…but if these guys genuinely are the world’s best, surely they don’t need it…
They’ve taken away the traction control this year I think so it should be a bit more interesting - I like any sport really that involves engines! Me & a few mates do a few trackdays a year in our cars and know a couple of people that are going to be racing in the Britcar series this year in BMW M3’s - as much as F1 has got boring I always end up watching it!
Bluewater cinema showed the last couple of races of the 2007 season so I’ll probably try and watch a few races down there, the size of the screen and the sound makes it much better than watching it at home! Wouldnt mind going to see the British GP but the prices and what you get to see is a bit crap ie: 1 corner of the track, best off watching it at home or down the pub you just dont get the noise or the atmosphere
Expressing a purely personal opinion, I think it has been for years.
I used to go to Club race meetings (by bus!)at Brands and Crystal Palace in my youth and always enjoyed them, not least because one could see 90% of the circuit.
However, I was put off going to F1 races by the British GP at Brands in 1968. The supporting races were exciting but the main race was just a procession, the high spots being the flames coming out of Rindt’s car for a few laps before he was black-flagged and the front wing on Surtees’ car collapsing.
For half each lap, the cars were out of sight.
At least TV gives an overall picture of the race if the programme director’s any good.
There’s too much money involved; it’s killed the ‘sport’ and suppressed the skill and ability of the individual.
