Politeness (Rant)

Morning All, Whilst no-one likes a rant first thing on a Monday morning I am afraid I have kept this bottled up for too long. I accept that the general persona of bikers is a lot of hooligans but we know that this is not the case (generally). We tend to be fairly well ordered and only take the mick from time to time and we all tend to stick together. One thing though annoys the crap out of me, if there are a few bikes sat at a set of lights in a queue all waiting like good boys and girls, why does one (I own the world dont you know!!) push past us all and sit at the front of the queue?

Why, why why, it’s just plain bloody rude! I realise some people may be late and in a rush but for fcuk sake, so are we. I want to bring the point up because after putting up with it for bloody ages I have had enough. And for the lady with long dark hair riding a Van Van wearing a camoflaged helmet going down the Walworth Road this morning, there were 5 of us sitting at the lights when you bimbled past and then stalled when the lights turned green. When you got it going you then bimbled off at 5 mph. I was not happy, the bloke on the BMW was hacked off and the Bandit riding courier with the Bark Busters looked like he was going to rip your head off!!!

Please folks, educate your friends (as I am sure none of us Londonbikers would behave like this).

Yours, getting off his soap box.

Although that’s no doubt annoying, just to add balance, came up behind four power rangers at Stanford hill lights, all sitting there chatting and pointing at the “bling bits” on each others bikes, held all three lines of traffic, as they didn’t see the lights change, then shot off, only to have to brake hard as the next set (200 yrds away) were red, and did exactly the same again!!!

Fortunatly they couldn’t read, stop the bus lane which is signed 7am-7pm was avoided by them, and I left them to annoy the following traffic.

A little care in whatever you do can avoid all this most of the time.

Cheers Mark.

I wont have anything said against van van riders, phew resisted the urge Jo would have killed me. But I agree its so rude in London Mopeds are just as bad, Good Job Jo is with me most of the time else I would have to do something about them

It’s not a rage against Van Van riders, she just happened to be on one. Road courtesy should be part of our riding tests (along with wheeling and knee down).

That’s the main reason we want to keep the LB forums clean. We want this ‘non-bikers’ to see that we can be civilised and not promote the bad side of biking that exists and is out there.

Hear hear!

Manners hurt no one. Can I add a serious “Oi, mind your manners” to all the monkeys in MoMo helmets riding scooters like muppets!

No probs with Scooters, no probs with fashion weirdos…I have a REAL problem with monkeys that drive like twonks. YOu only get away with it cos other people look out for you…if you want us to watch out for you, show some manners and look out for others

Anyone else wanna go on the soap box?

I got to say i push in at times…

when im filtering and come up to a set of lights, you oftern get just 1 or 2 bikes sat right on the outside of the cars when theres plenty of room on the box with the bike painted on it

rather that sit out in the middle of the road with a high chance of geting cliped by the oncoming traffic (and lets face it unuff oncoming cars pull over to try and stop you filtering)

I will pull past and infront.

i personaly dont care who pulls in where, in front, behind…

As long as its all done in a safe way.

I don’t really mind if someone pulls in front of me as long as they clear off when the light changes. I do, however, get very wound up when a scooter kid or pizza boy (the worst) pull in front of me and then just ease off at slow-miles-per-hour.

In the same vane, I do appreciate it when I am filtering and come up behind a more cautious rider who is quite happy to move over and let me through - thanks to all those that do this!

The van van rider you described sounds like an ididot, but i have to admit, if theres 1 or 2 bikes waiting to the right side of the front car at lights and im in a rush i will pass them and go into the cyclist box up front, however i make damn sure the moment i even sense amber i am off like a bat out of hell… that way i dont see the problem, maybe its against someones sense of what is mannors and what isnt, but if im in a rush i gotta do what i gotta do, and that way i hold up no one and have clear road ahead of me…

It does not bother me if people move in front of me, so long as they don’t obscure my line of sight and my ability to pull away quickly. If they are slow, I pass them as soon as it is safe to do so and then get to the next set of lights in a way that means they cannot get in front of me. They soon get the message. Scooters tend not to do it twice. I had to tell a C90 rider this morning to cancel his indicator as he was bimbling along for 1/2 a mile with the left one flicking away. He was embarressed rightly so.

so reading between the lines you were done by a bird on a Van Van and your ego can’t cope ???

It’s London, its a big scary place … maybe you need a nice country village to commute through where the only other thing at the lights are the sheep …

sheeeesh

OI !!! So whats wrong with being “done by a bird”? and number two, he werent, cos she stalled the stupid van van…whatever that is !!! And i agree with him…it dont hurt to stay behind or get in beside bikers up front, you dont HAVE to push in and get to the front…im used to it, cos some of the “men/boys” cant HACK a women in front of them at best of times and they all try best they can to get in front!..stoopid we know

nothing at all wrong with “being done by a bird” …and stop smirking …

truth is if he hadn’t left a gap for her to go through there would be no issue …

if theres a gap, I take it, its not pushing in, its using all the avalable space on our congested roads, she was just unlucky to stall … then again, maybe her stalling was the only way he;d overtake her and glue the ego back together …

WOOOOO !!! And i thought WE were the bitchy species !!! Are you SURE your not a woman??? (smile)…love the “and stop smirking”…ha ha… I dont smirk, im a lady !!! LOL

oh babes, i can bitch with the best of em, comes from being a big lad as a kid … i could either get rid of trouble makers by making them look stupid in front of their mates, or beat them up … but there is no place for violence in modern society (except on rugby pitches where i became a complete nutter) … lol

define “lady” ??

“define lady”…? Err, cant !! lol ooh i know…is it someone who dont fart, sweat, smell of minging things, or swear?? (s**t, im not a lady after all!!!) …Ahh but bet you dont wear a bra, g string, and smell of perfume, under ya leathers? (well im guessing u dont?) guess some of you man titters could !!! oh i SO didnt want to go there !!!

ha ha ha … you been stalking me ???

and stop pm’ing me for my “worn panties” …

Erm aren’t the green boxes for cyclists only and technically motorcycles aren’t allowed in - I’m sure I heard that tfl are even going to control this with cameras and fines etc…

And on the subject of gaps I agree. By all means if I’ve left a gap use it. But don’t:…
Plug it
Squeeze past
Give me a dirty look
Expect me to move out of the way cos your likely to wear your bike as a pair of underpants as the next person who squeezes past me f’ing and jeffing is going to get it in the neck biker scooter rider van van rider, courier whatever…

Okay…and relax…

This thread reminds me of primary school dinner ques… " Miss she pushed in front of me, na naa naaa baa "

Can some of you even wipe your asses without assistance?

Miss Weaver Londonbiker said Asses…
