Following on from mine and shewolfs run in on saturday with the nice Mr Plods of essex… and then the observations on how many were out on Tues at Dick Turpin…today coming home from work, 6pm…im turning from the A13 lights into the Heathway…few yards down the road to my left…one nice Mr Plod car, pulled over someone in a car…and low and behold, back of car, pointing at number plate and getting out his little book…ho hum…boring ive seen it all weekend by now!!!
So along i go a few yards more…and oh dear me…another Mr Plod, this time on a bike…with yet another unfortunate cager…and oh look…hes gone to the number plate again…
But not even a few yards more…this is not even covering a bluddy mile of the road now…theres ANOTHER nice Mr Plod…this time pulled over a biker…for his number plate…AEFFINGAIN!!!
Now i know on Saturday they told me and shewolf they had had a briefing and its ZERO TOLERANCE time on number plates…and it seems they werent lying…cos from Sat to today…ive seen nothing but our nice Mr Plod, stopping untold bikers and cagers !!! WOW…earning ya money their lads …earning ya money
SO, moral of my story?..please take off your small number plates when approaching ESSEX…DO NOT approach ESSEX…STEP AWAY from ESSEX…if not…get ya cheque books out, unless you put ya paddles back on ya bikes…(like ive had to)…
But, that just goes to show, somethings going on with the nice Mr Plods everywhere …they have been told to stop and issue fines to anyone with small or changed number plates…they said the new cameras cant pick up the right info on these modified plates, which is against the law, therefore…rest is history, more money in the governments pockets from all of us on the roads. Whereby before they used to turn a blind eye if it wasnt blatantly illegal, they now look out specifically for the number plate esp on the bikes !!!
To be fair though, i have seen some REAL stupid plates out there on bikes…like BIG MAN (BI5 M8N) or RASTA (RA5 TA) PISS OFF (PI55 OFF) so on and so forth…some are SO small and in italics too …i mean, thats asking for a tug…
Funny enough I was thinking about a push on the mobile phone stuff yesterday on the way home - seeing more and more drivers using the mobiles because they know they can get away with it…
Number plates though - there was a press release from the DVLA last month sometime saying there were going to have a crack down on plates.
Trouble is the ANPR cameras can’t read them properly, and the reasoning behind all of this? It helps us catch bad people - like the people behind the london and glasgow bombs - which to be fair they did, but still… I’m not that keen.
Nice to see our hard earned tax dollars are beeing put to good use now that the terrorist threat is at max.
Just goes to show that all small number plate holders are terrorist suspects and should be continually harrassed.
Is it any wonder that voilent crime is rocketing? If I want to go burgle a house and stab the occupants then I can do it in the comfort of knowing that I aint gonna get caught, all the plod are hitting soft targets like you lot with your small plates.
I don’t get what the problem is with having a normal size number plate? The only reason I can see you would want a small humber plate is make yourself identifiable when riding like a c*nt.
This is a tricky subject you can look at it that they are picking on the good people but they are also picking up the bad as well I wonder how many uninsured drivers no license tax mot etc etc they have got because of ANPR, a small plate to a police man could mean your trying to hide something or you might do a runner because you have no tax mot insurance etc and know they cant read it.
The main reason they are getting the ass about plates is because ANPR cant do its job so MR plod is getting fed up having to do the work because his new toy cant do it for him, how would you feel if someone made a system for you at work that would save you alot of ball ache only to have to still do it manually.
I feel that they should have a system that allows you to be warned first and then get a fine I am sure if you keep getting done for a small plate they shove it on a Q plate ???
Maybe P.S or D.J could shed some light on how well ANPR is doing.
I agree on the mobiles - not only do I see at least five or six a day on their mobiles whilst moving, but nearly every day now I see someone in moving traffic with their eyes firmly fixed on their Blackberry!
Admittedly once i used my phone but that was as I was driving my car along a dual carriageway at about 7mph as my engine had blown up and I couldnt reali stop. So I called trusty Christof who came out to rescue me. But yeah, I hate mobile users!!!
On the numberplate thing, I’ve never had a problem and my numberplate is snapped in half!!
My thoughts exactly. As a wise man once said (Trojan) “if you cant do the time, dont commit the crime”. Same pretty much goes with speeding, you know the law, the limit, you break it, dont b!tch about it, hold ya hands up, bend over and receive the penalty.
Agree totally with the mobile phones cos no need for it with all the hands free for sale nowdays anyway…
Number plate? well i dont have the small letterbox, italic written type…mine WAS/IS smaller than the original at 7x5, but the letters/numbers are large? And i cant believe that they cant read those on the cameras, im no expert so may be wrong…but asked a copper and he said it would be ok at the size i have, so i assumed it WOULD be?..Im not saying it will kill me to have the original plate on…course not, although all in the mind i guess but i DO feel like its slowing me down……its just that with the sleekness of the bikes we have, the HUGE number plate on the ars-end looks…well…a bit like someone with jackups !!!
I had to chuckle this morning A bike cop pulled up at the lights with a load of bike commuters (we were all on our bestest behaviour), when a couple of cyclists doing the old 'edge out … edge out … edge out … GO FOR IT ! trick (not seeing copper behind) just as they did, he put his siren on and pulled them over … ‘yay’ I thought
Pity they never catch the light jumpers, dope smokers, paper readers in Jags and ladies applying make up … or breakfast on the run so I’ll eat/drink in the car drivers …
