Hey all, though I’d post this up here in case someone knows the owner of a black sports bike stolen around borough tonight (looked like a 600). I spotted the scum as they nearly took me out on a junction with union street at about 8:50pm.
I took off after the two motorbike thieves (one guy on a black scooter pushing the other guy on the black sports bike with the engine off), as they rode across borough whilst thinking nothing of ploughing through busy crossings & junctions so as not to lose their momentum.
As I caught up to them at the junction of borough high street they ran the lights through the pedestrians crossing and out into moving traffic… all in sight of two police vans.
To get help I pull up and the police (who were watching them cut into the moving traffic). They just keep me there and take 15 minutes to decide there’s no proof of any crime, even though the bike was clearly stolen and they’re causing mayhem on the roads.
The icing on the cake. As I’m describing the two bikes I’ve just been chasing, the officer listening behind me suddenly perks up says “oh, they were black in colour were they?!” and finally gets his notebook out to do something… I had to correct him… “No officer, the bikes are black. The riders were wearing helmets so I couldn’t tell you their colour”.
Really, what was the joint in stopping. The police just assisted the theft.
I wish I’d just stopped them myself!
Blimey…
When I saw the topic title I thought it was going to be about the Police actually assisting with the recovery where a theft has occurred!
Ah man, this is disgusting!
This would be a comedy sketch if it wasn’t so depressing.
They must have been on a tea break. Tossers.
Should have taken their numbers, not that it would do much if you complained but it’d be a mark on their cards I’m sure.
There are good ones too though, I stopped by some City Police after a little turd on a Boris bike kept running red lights, nearly running down peds. When I told him to stop he hurled abuse and tried to catch me, I assume to do some harm. Anyhoo, just mentioned it all in passing to the police in their van, they spotted him coming down the road, stuck their lights on and blocked his path. I left them to it.
That’s truely shocking.
“Proof that no crime has been committed”! Unvelievable.
Perhaps in future the best course of action is ring it in? Therefore creating a call log. Ive done this having seen scrotes riding 3 up on a (presumably) stolen scooter & old bill were there very quick.
Bike theft isn’t a priority for the police. Next time dial 999 and tell the operator there’s a fully legal, gainfully employed, married white British heterosexual non-disabled male doing 31mph in a 30 limit. They’ll be on it like a shot
They don’t need proof the just need suspicion, well they don’t even need that to stop a motor vehicle and enquire as to its ownership. You should 100% complain to the MET it’s neglect of duty plain and simple.
