one has to remember lots of police resources are used up sitting in petrol garages monitoring possible drive offs .i get fed up with pass the buck police "its not our fault"sadly when you take the job you are the front line you are the face we see.Your all so busy why were 4 police cars parked illegally on double yellow lines in epping high street all day ."Not our fault were not essex police"your only revenue collectors for the chancellor.Yes i am entitled to my opion.

To a large part I feel quite sorry for the ordinary police on the beat, they have at times a sh*t job to do with very little respect from a lot of people out there. They also find their own disires to do things properly blocked by paperwork and stupid rules as well as a large number of commanding officers who were fast track grads with little exposure to “real” policing making them more managers than police officers.
On top of this you have the CPS, an agency staffed by quite a lot of avarage people who want to be 100% sure that if anything comes along they CAN get a conviction or it is just not worth chasing. Their case load is also huge.
Put both of these together and a simple fender bender is going to go nowhere. Sad but true.
My recent experience of the police was first rate, fast to the scene of the accident, supportive and they attended A&E with me to make sure I could give as good a statement as I could. They also gave me as much info as they could at the time.
The plain and simple truth is that there are to few police, far to much crime and a CPS that will do nothing unless it looks like a 100% slam dunk.
Thanks for explaining… frankly I though that having 2 witnesses and photos would be more than enough to prosecute the bastard. Not only that but the photos show the dent on our car and theirs, the pain on our car matches the pain on their car, the exact scratches match dead on… no idea what the hell they want more than that…

Andrei, apologies, I was a bit more harsh with my original answer than I should have been. Basically the laws in this country are a pile of poo and everything (rightly or wrongly) is weighted on the side of an accused person. In the likes of this then where there is no independent witnesses there is just no way that the CPS would take the job to court and their attitude (wrongly) would be that you pay insurance so let that sort it out.
I really wouldn’t (I’m sure you wouldn’t anyway) take any sort of retribution against the car, you could end up in a huge heap of trouble with a criminal record.
I feel sorry for the police because they are so overworked that they cant do all the stuff we the public expect which means that we all have a crappy story to complain about them. But the problem is more to do with the legal system and them knowing what’s worth “wasting” time on.
eg Workmen stole stuff from a locked room in my house (but being joiners managed to cover it up so I didnt notice for a week) and they put almost £4k on my credit card because the card company didnt think to ask me why I had started withdrawing cash for the first time and was doing it every day!!! I managed to track down where else my card was used and a shop confirmed that they had the CCTV footage of it being used. The policeman told me that they wouldnt be able to do anything about the workmen because my dad and bestfriend, who used to live with me, had house keys so technically they could have been in the house and broken into the cupboard. They tried to get prints but couldnt get anything (polish your light switches people! :P) The policeman said that he knew it was the workmen and didnt trust the guy from when he interviewed him but that they couldnt press charges without evidence. I totally understand this and (apart from the fact that they never returned my calls about the CCTV footage) am grateful for their effort - its just so annoying that the fecking ars**le came into my house, took the **** and got away with it! (On a positive note, I got my windows done for about £400 less because the day before I found out I had refused to pay him the rest until the job was totally finished. Unsurprisingly he didnt contact me again after the police visit!!!)

Yep, on that same basis if someone is willing to risk their whole future that there may be a bit of cctv or a witness to catch them out for a silly bit of revenge then they are very very stupid - my opinion only !
Agreed… life is too short and I strongly believe that, what goes around, comes around… Hopefully this bastard will get hit by an unisured driver and get a taste of their own medicine.
Anyhow, if there’s a good match for the damage between the two vehicles the I suspect the Insurer will be successful in launching their counter claim, even if you end up in court to do it.
Funny you should mention cctv. The police officer my wife spoke to when our car was vandalised said that they wouldn’t even bother to look at cctv as it is too difficult to identify someone from. So go ahead fill your boots and get some payback.
CCTV seems to be a waste of time, they had two cameras on bike when it got stolen, images are a waste of time looks like they were shot with a Fisher Price toy.
Thats the councils fault for not buying decent cameras m8…not the Police’s fault. They’ve probably tried using them before so know they’re naff!
My advice, moan to the council about the cameras…we’re all paying high council tax to help pay for such things and if they ain’t good quality then I want some money back!!

if the police cant do their job, they are useless. People need to stop making pathetic excuses to support them! When you contact the police with strong proof of a crime/offence, you expect action. If you wanted to do everything through the law yourself, then you would contact a lawyer and wouldnt have to paying fugging taxes to fund the police!!!

Yeah I did. The cash withdrawals were done with the pin number though (workmen nicked it with the new card) so I was a bit worried the card company thought it was me for a couple of days.
My excuse is for the police as I dont blame the police per se, it’s the system in which they have to work that I blame 100%
