the violent killing of large numbers of people, especially in war:

i accept bikes can be dangerous and people are killed on the road but

is this a correct way to describe motorcycle /road accidents ???

DRAMATIC AND OFFENSIVE IN MY OPINION

THIS IS NOT A BLOG OF PUBLIC INTEREST, THIS IS SOMEONES SELF OPINIONATED POLITICAL PROPOGANDA

TWAT He must of been bullied at school.

a c*nt of the biggest order. I left some choice feedback for the cuntstable!

I have just left a nice (yeh right ) bit of feedback for own bike fan. i hope he enjoys in maybe he could read it while eating his cornflake, hope he doesnt choke on it when he reads it. (No really)

i think you are being a bit harsh on the poor bloke, how long did you dream of having a bike? how did you feel when you failed your cbt for the upteenth time? give the bloke a chance, maybe one day he will fullfill his dream and join the ranks of bikers.

what a numpty.

Good thread! Though I have to play devils advocate here to make it interesting; there’s times when the noise of bikes pisses me off, especially some that come down my road late at night, on full chat, over the speed bumps and back on the gas again. It’s not necessary, it’s dangerous and I’m trying to relax. I’m sure there’s times when we all like to relax and get some peace and quiet, and a National Heritage park has got to be one of those places, so I can _sort_of see where he’s coming from.

There’s always two sides to a coin

Dear Sir,

Re: Use of Web Logs ‘blogs’ by Senior Officers of North Wales Police

It has been brought to my attention that the Deputy Chief Constable of the North Wales Police, Mr Clive Wolfendale’s, web log for the weekend of August 5th contained a number of remarks about the use of motorcycles in National Parks.

Deputy Chief Constable Wolfendale’s comments are as follows:-

’The only detriment to this earthly paradise [the Lake District] was the inescapable whine of motorcycles on the A592. Revving in frustration at the snaking traffic and inconvenient speed limits, the machines seemed wholly incompatible with the otherwise pristine scene. I reflected on the statutory duty of Park Authorities to conserve and enhance natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage” and was reminded that Snowdonia suffers the same high pitched affliction. Most riders are responsible and courteous. North Wales Police has worked hard with partner organisations to cut the amount of motorcycle carnage on our routes. This does not begin to address, however, the environmental imposition. Only on the highest peaks (I just about managed it on a misty Helvellyn) is it possible to escape the grand prix ambience. In Germany, some states have banned the use of motorcycles at the weekend in certain areas. Is it now time to banish motorcycles completely from our National Parks?’

Mr Wolfendale’s comments give the British Motorcyclists Federation (BMF) cause for concern:

1) Is it appropriate that North Wales Police budget is used to fund the publication of Senior Officers’ personal opinions via a web log on the North Wales Police website?

2) The Police Code of Conduct states that ‘Police officers have a particular responsibility to act with fairness and impartiality in all their dealings with the public and their colleagues.’ It appears to the BMF that DCC Wolfendale is ignoring this guideline; his comments on motorcycles in National Parks appear to be far from impartial. Would you agree?

3) I thoroughly agree with DCC Wolfendale’s comment that ‘most riders are responsible and courteous’ but am concerned that he saw fit to conclude by saying ‘Is it now time to banish motorcycles completely from our National Parks?’. DCC Wolfendale ignores the fact that the noise nuisance is caused primarily by machines fitted with non-standard exhaust systems, not legal for road use. It is not reasonable to ban the majority of responsible and courteous riders from National Parks on account of the few who are not. A comment that he regretted not having sufficient resources to enforce the existing law well enough to reduce the nuisance would surely have been more appropriate and welcomed by the BMF.

We await your response with interest.

Following responses from the above the BMF will consider its position on making a formal complaint regarding DCC Clive Wolfendale’s comments to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

Fair point Jay. I’ve put the baffles into my akro’s because without, the sooperdook is silly loud.

No harm in leaving the copper a message though!

"At a time when a increasing percentage of our population fear being the victims of property related crime, or crime such as violent assualt / mugging, it’s good to see you directing your attention toward your crusade against motorcycles.

You are a disgrace to your profession , a PR disaster of the highest order."

FTP!

The only one whining up there is him!

I have to agree with Jay that there are two sides to every story. However he is in public office and has to be even handed, his comments aren’t and our replies won’t be.

I have to say I haven’t ridden in any of the national parks they are a bit of a trek to be fair, but if I do, I don’t want to have to face this kind of prejudice, if he cant say anything civil about us then he shouldn’t be permitted to speak.

I am glad BMF have written to the police in the manner they have.

I added my own message, pointing out that most of us want to enjoy the scenery just like anyone else, and li ke car drivers there is a small minority who may be intent on causing trouble. But whats next? banning boy racers, sports car drivers, and anyone else who slaps on a big exhaust pipe just to sound noisey?

Good points, well put!

Sent him a message - polite and to the point. Asked why he couldn’t treat us all as individuals or did we all look the same to him…

sheep shaggers

he no doubt has a tiny penis and his wife is shagging a biker

My 2p’s worth…

Sir,

I have to say that your views seem utterly 1 dimensional. I am in the fortunate position to own both bike and car, and enjoy taking both through our national parks.

You fail to mention that the same areas also appeal to the “boy racer” element of our society. Their Subaru & Mitsubishi look a like “rally cars” make an awful noise, and you also seem blind to the sports car drivers who regularly cut in and out of traffic, often on dual solid white lines. Motorcycle owners, like every other road user, pay road tax and therefore have every right to be on the road.

Your view is very simplistic… You don’t like it so we should ban it. For a man in your position that is a very naïve comment to make. You should, in public at least, be seen as portraying a neutral perspective. However, it seems to me that by publishing such comments in public, you openly promote the victimisation of one particular group. Not really a good position for a senior Police officer to take is it?

Stop abusing your position to shift laws to suit yourself and take a 360 degree view of life, not just through your own private looking glass.

.

So does this mean you’ll be banning LB members who’s bikes have race cans fron attending Cubana?

Just wondering y’know.
