Now now, Flattie! Darryl’s got a very valid point. If you go to a foreign country with the intention of settling down, you should learn what the relevant laws are. I would have thought the Highway Code would be an obvious one for a driver to learn. In any case, I doubt you can do 100+ mph in Hungary either…
well P you can do 100+mph where ever you want just dont get caught everything carries a risk even replying to a post from you can get you a small telling off or a full blow assault on spelling or punctuation…
but i still do it
Did Andrew say you can leave your room?
No, but i dont think he notices when i go out…
back to the point, are you on a british or hungarian licence? think if you are on hungarian you can only be fined because its not in the eu (i think) only been there once though so it might be in eu by now, remember coming back with suitcase stuffed full of cheap ciggies only to read sign in airport saying you are only allowed to bring 200 back, though the guy in the shop looked at me a bit funny when i bought 3000…
Nem nem nem. Magyar riders!!! My wife is Hungarian, but I’ll not say any more. If your license is Hungarian, you’ll be fined. Not a lot they can do regarding an EU license. Plead guilty, first offense etc… Good luck!
your “Goulashed” me old china !!!
106, heck, that’s a bit quick! I hope they let you off with a short ban and a fine but good luck anyway.
I was poodling down the A13 today and good job I did too, 2 cop cars were hiding in the slow lane concealed by a lorry!
Storm observed:
“cop cars were hiding in the slow lane concealed by a lorry!”
I wasn’t on the A13 this morning
I use the A13 every morning, where was they hiding?
I would say that theyu were not exactly hiding, they were trundling along the slow lane being devious by getting a lorry on their outside in the middle lane, its a trick I have observed countless times over the years.
They certainly were not about when i trundled down the A13 at an earlier hour.
LoL you ‘trundled’ ? Chuffster? Well good on you.
Trojan, Flatout and anyone else thinking the words written - go easy on the police-bashing. We all speed, and I hope Darryl does bit when he’s out on his own bike. If you get caught doing it, it says more about you than it does about the Police.
I do not want people to think that taking an easy pip at the Police is a clever thing to do or one that will be tolerated here. 'Cause it won’t.
sorry Andrew, no way was I having a pop. My old man was a traffic cop for nearly 30 years so I’ve been brunged up proper like! I was simply saying it’s a good job I was observing speed limits as the A13 can be quiet in some stretches and it’s all too tempting to have a mad moment. As opposed to my usual blonde ones!
Eh? No worries J, you were not who I was intending that at.
in regard to the driving licence situation if you are visiting this country and have a non eu licence and found guilty at court you will probably receive a fine. However if you are a resident and will be applying for a Uk licence when your country of origin licence expires you will be issued a UK licence number so that when you apply for it they will already be aware of the conviction and any subsequent ban you may receive. If you are an EU licence holder and are convicted at court you will recieve a counterpart copy from this country with any disqualification and endorsments so it can be held on record. The law regarding the EU licence recently changed so that if you are disqualified here you are disqualified in all EU country’s if you are the holder of an EU licence. This was brought about due to the fact people where using it as a loophole if banned in this counntry they where going to country’s like Ireland and getting an Irish licence so they could continue driving in this country while being disqualified. Be aware if you get caught flouting any conviction the court gives ,you could be later be found guilty of perverting the course of justice which could ultimately mean a prison sentence. If you have been genuinly caught best way forward is take it on the chin and get on with it. or claim exeptional circumstances that you need you,r licence for work purposes and they may hit you with a high fine and short disqualification. GOOD LUCK!
MIKE
