on the way to work I was filtering behind a police bike, about 100 yards back.
he came up to another bike in front, who did not move out of the way despite the flashing lights, no siren tho. Probably about 10 seconds went by and the bike moved over into the middle lane to let the copper go. He came level with the bike and then brought his entire arm down from head height pointing the finger of doom for him to pull over which he did.
I dont know what for perhaps poor obs, but if it were an emergency call why did he pull the guy over. Anyway, I would have been polite etc but would have been tempted to say it was a bit over the top, the finger of doom I mean.
The best one is when you see them hammering through a busy high street sirens blazing going real quick they get round the corner and of go the lights and the sirens and they go back to driving at 30mph. I have seen this so much!
If the call gets cancelled or there is no further need for the vehicle to make progress then the lights and the speed will come off mate !
Same can be said for making progress without the use of blues and twos, it could be a case of the vehicle getting close to where the call is and not wanting to alert suspects … could be a few reasons.
If the Police driver has a prang though, he will be in the poo if he’s in the wrong or misusing the two tones and lights … all recorded on a little ‘black box’ located in the vehicle
Hey, if I was a bike cop, I’d do the same. Doesn’t it piss you off when slower riders block your path for no reason? It’s so rude! I always move over for couriers and the like!
Jay, I’m with you on this one fella, I only drive a 125 at the moment, so respect the fact that an old ladies electric scooter can go faster so move out of the way for the big bikes… Although sometimes it is a little annoying if you see a big bike and is poodling along I feel kinda ashamed to overtake a big bike I feel I just shouldn’t if that makes sense…
