Police Bike Auction

does any one know where they have the police motorcycle auction?

I think the Met Police dispose of their vehicles at BCA Blackbushe - http://www.british-car-auctions.co.uk/

I don’t know much about ex police bikes…but I wouldn’t touch an ex police car with a bargepole. Not at any price. Never. Ever.

However I do know there is a company in Staffordshire which knocks out ex police, ambulance and military bikes. They can be found at

try this one http://.hbc.co.uk/index.html

As he said - wouldn’t touch one at any price !

agreed.

So what about the - ‘maintained without regard to cost’?

Obviously there’s a BMW in need of more than T-

Cut!

So what about the - ‘maintained without regard to cost’?

I always thought that although Police bikes were high milage, they were rigorously maintained and ridden by skilled, experienced riders so in theory should be a good buy,no?

Forgetting that they are police Officers for a second - doesn’t make any difference anyway as coppers are just like everyone else !!

Give anyone a piece of kit to use at work that is ‘free’ to them and it will not be looked after as well as it would be if it was being used by someone who personally owned it and had to pay for it to be repaired / serviced etc etc.

Human nature and all that.

No one has asked yet so i will,

Why do you want an ex police bike.?

I just meant that the bike might have been ridden hard, but unlikely to have been stunted all over the place and any problems would have been spotted and repaired by professional mechanics using genuine parts. Much more chance of getting a bike that has had repairs bodged because the owner couldn’t afford to get it sorted properly.

I would not touch one, unless it was really cheap.

The Met used to have its own workshops but now it is all contracted out. The bikes and cars are not maintained anywhere near like they used to be. Nearing the end of their shelf life, money is not spent on them. I can assure you that some of our fleet should be thrown in the wheelie bin!

Most bikes will need money spending on them and, in all honesty, will have been ragged…

They turn up at this place

Before buying any second-hand vehicle from anyone it is important to consider why it is being disposed of. A police bike is being got rid of a it is either surpluse to requirments, in which case the older, more knackered machnes will be got rid of before the newer better ones, or it is no longer economical to maintain it. Either way, it has to be very suspect.
