Before you read any further, even if you sponsor £1, it would help and let me know I have some support out there.
I took part in the 10k run last year. This year its even more significant to me as since then my own Mum has been diagnosed with inoperable lung and throat cancer. She’s only 58. Chemotherapy seems to be keeping things at bay for the time being though. The heartbreak my Dad is going through contributed toward him suffering a massive heart attack at the end of Jan this year. The doctors are calling him a walking miracle after surviving such an attack. They are now looking after each other.
Cancer doesn’t just affect the person diagnosed, it affects those closest to them aswell. My 10k run won’t make my Mums cancer go away but my taking part could help some elses Mum (or Dad, Brother, Sister etc) in the future.
What ever I raise here the company I work for will match it so PLEASE sponsor me.

By the way, after seeing Charleys post ref blood runners, I did look into it but realised its not for me on my gsxr750 so I looked into other charity things I could do and joined Kent Search and Rescue. Its really helping me to concentrate my mind on other things other than my ill parents all the time. Something to do where I can help people.
I managed to get them in at Brands BSB to collect for the charity as its run fully by volunteers and fundraising events to get equipment and essential things needed to perform searches requested by the police in Kent. Please pop a pound in the pot if you see them on race day.
Thank you so much if you can help Cancer Research or Kent Search and Rescue in any way.
Very sorry to hear about your parents, my thoughts are with you and your family. Its a tough time and you are very brave dealing with things in such a positive way.
Cheers to the ones who have sponsored me so far. I have been asked to post this up again as a reminder.
Update so far is that my Mum has been refused anymore chemo as she is too weak and they were going to send her into a hospice which broke her heart but now they will be trying radiotherapy to hopefully help prolong her life.
Please could you sponsor me with what you can xxxxxxx
Just read you page, so sorry to hear what you have gone through, I hope your mum and dad are doing well. I’ve sponsored you, I’ll be taking part in the regents park one this year, done it for about the last 5 years but I truly hope that I don’t ever have to take part in memory of someone close to me
Its an awful disease that effects us all in some way or another at some point in our lives.
You have our support and donation hun. Our thoughts go to you and your family.
After hearing about Smiled doing his 1/2 marathon in leathers and lid I wanted to do the same but being in July and remembering how hot it was last time made me forget about that idea.
However, I have been offered a moto-x suit with pattern and printing to order with what I like for £75 (a deal I sorted with a company) and also already been donated a helmet which I can paint pink for the occasion… I just don’t have the money and not taking it out of the sponsorship from forms etc. I need a company or someone to sponsor the £75 needed for me to do the race in the full suit. I’ll be getting the Race for Life logo printed on, my race number and any sponsor that I manage to get as advertising.
If anyone knows who may put in towards the £75 please let me know. It will have to be paid stright to “Danger UK” who would print the outfit. Have a look at their site.
I was one of the people who ran that 1/2 marathon with Shane, it was in September and it was a scorching day!! I think he was mad for doing it but he done it and he done it in not too bad a time either. I wouldn’t have like to have to experienced the smell of the leathers and lid later that evening!!
I’ve already asked for sponsorship which so many people have already donated, I couldn’t ask for that too when there are people out there running marathons… (even though this measly 10k seems like a marathon to me!!!)
