I bought my CBF125 brand new in January and since then I’ve clocked up just over 10,000 miles on it.
The back tyre needs replacing and it needs it’s 10k service and it has started burning oil somewhere deep inside, so have been having a chat and looks like I got a good deal to chop it in.
The bike cost me £1,695, (but they went up to £2,020 as soon as the 09 plate was available).
I’ve been given £1,020 trade in value on mine, meaning a brand new 59 plate CBF125 is gonna cost me £1,000.
hehe… yeah - I know I know - that’s where the smart money is…
But…
I can’t take the test on the bike as it is - rear tyre ain’t up to the controlled stop in damp conditions :Whistling: and if I put new tyre on and keep it long enough to do the test, I’d have to sort out the 10k service now
Soooooooo… a new set of tyres and a 10k service - that’s £300 minimum in readies required…
Plus with the way it is, I reckon it’s just gonna start costing me more dough - its been ridden hard (like Garret said - 10k on a 125 in 8 months from new is a lot of mileage for a little engine) and a brand new one makes sense if I take into account the fact I ain’t gotta replace the tyres or do the service.
Annoyingly, I’ve got the cash to sort out the service and the tyres, but spending it would mean losing £80 deposit on my new tattoo (been booked for 5 weeks) and possibly Mrs. Ramone kicking off if the tat featuring my ex-wife’s name doesn’t finally get covered up!
I too would vote for the test, just can’t do it on that bike.
Besides, I plan to keep a 125cc for work - just cause its reliable.
For the first 10k.
Hey Garret - if you like the Ridley connection, wait til next Friday when I’ll have an elbow to shoulder Alien tattoo in progress on my arm
