Hey mechanic - I had a similar experience with another car recently. I think you did the right thing. I mean you’re still here, aren’t you! I’m not preaching to any of you lot, but for me, I prefer to do all that on track. I don’t often feel the need to prove myself on the road at all as a result. For me, that’s the healthy option and a great deal of why I am still alive today (despite the errant taxis’ best efforts…).
I also think that there is some pride in your posting this and I think that’s healthy too. You know you did the right thing and it’s important that people read about it so that it becomes acceptably ‘cool’ behaviour. We all do some dangerous things on the road (in fact, LIVING is often dangerous, let alone RIDING), but knowing when to stop and knowing your own limits is one of the most important things, in my opinion, to get about motorcycling.
P.s. at over 140 and especially when the wind is up, doesn’t your kneck really hurt!!!
